Newsday: Greg Logan has comments from the players and coach Ted Nolan on Rick DiPietro's play and the team effort in Friday's win against the Devils.

"Not only did he block the shots, but he handled the puck very smartly tonight. He didn't just shoot the puck around the boards and try to make long passes. He made some long passes, but there was a lot of thought. He made some great plays for us."

"I think it's just age; he's coming into his own," defenseman Brendan Witt said of DiPietro. "As a young goalie, there's so many expectations. Last year didn't help because the media was blowing out his whole deal. This year, he knows the type of player he is, and he expects a lot of himself.

"As defensemen, we don't want him to stop everything. We want him to play within himself and not try to stop every kind of shot available. He's very confident and mentally strong. Last year, if a weak one got in, he'd be really upset. Now, he just parks it and goes forward and doesn't dwell on it, which is great."

NYI Fan Central Comments:
DiPietro gets a 1-0 win and part of the story from the primary beat writer is to mention his ego as a storyline? How about his record against Brodeur.

Cannot think of anything last year where DiPietro showed any ego so not sure why Logan brought that up from a goalie who's performance was not hyped by Newsday's beat writer as one of the best in the NHL last season who faced more shots per game than any other NHL goaltender and proved he is a franchise goaltender in this league.

Daily News: Peter Botte covered the game.

"It's not a thing you ever expect. ... Fortunately I was in the right place at the right time," Vasicek said. "I knew I had all the time. I just tried to get (Brodeur) moving, and wait him out."

NY Post: Mark Everson writes one article for both teams game coverage.

Newark Star Ledger & North Jersey/Bergen Record: Tom Gulitti has the Devils coverage.

Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio's Saturday article is on Ryan Kinasewich who is up on a tryout contract from Utah.
