Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio's blog updates Sound Tigers practice and reports it was the most media ever here for a practice, maybe twice over. No fewer than three New York writers, AP, three photographers, Islanders TV, Sound Tigers TV…

Islanders website: Has comments from Kyle Okposo, Jeff Tambellini and coach Jack Capuano after his first practice. Isles reported Mark Herrmann and Neil Best from the Times (he works for Newsday) covered practice.

“It felt great to be out there and begin my pro career,”

“Because of my experience in the Prospects Camp, I felt more at home than if I came in here cold. I know a lot of the guys, like Jeff Tambellini, so that made me feel very comfortable. After five days between games, and then traveling from the Czech Republic to Minnesota and now here, it might take a little while to get adjusted, but it'll be okay."

Said Tambellini, who will share his house with Okposo: "As a team, we see it as a responsibility that Kyle feels comfortable and that he's ready for this level."

“To jump right in, have a practice and then leave with the team for a road game on my second day is very exciting,” said Okposo. “It’s a great way to get acclimated to my teammates and the coaching staff.”

AHL.com: Announced the Planet USA all-star team. No Sound Tigers were included so Jeff Tambellini will be the only Sound Tiger.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Sure is long overdue Dave Andrews goes back to an East-West format to say nothing of schedule expansion so the Sound Tigers can actually play the West Coast. I'm tired of the Norfolk matchups and it cannot be good for prospects never to get on a plane.

I loved those first year trips to San Antonio and the West Coast. I have totally lost interest in the Western Conference in the AHL.
