Islanders website: Has the recap of tonight's 3-1 win against the Devils in Newark with Rick DiPietro leading the way.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
I think Bill Guerin had it right, without Rick DiPietro the Devils could have had another four goals but that's what he's paid for and why he's a top flight goaltender. Devils took the puck from the outside angles all night and went right at DiPietro but he held his ground and the defense kept them to the outside. Isles defense made enough plays to keep the puck out of the net but three games in four nights with two road trips is a lot.

And they started the game with the extra step which was very impressive.

Loved the plays that created the goals and a few other setups where Brodeur had to make great saves himself. That's how you work a five on three, get the puck down low and find the open man with an open net which is where you want Guerin to get his shot. That's how this team will stay in the playoff race and the kind of play we rarely see from this offense.

Second goal may be my favorite since the Carolina game, Fedntenko got the puck to Hunter who made a perfect pass to a cutting Sillinger, that's how you win with grit and hard work, you get into positions and create high quality chances.

Huge win with the Islanders franchise goaltender playing a fantastic game. That save on Zubrus was unreal as was the pk in the second period. DiPietro also just robbed Elias and had a bunch of other huge saves.

That's 5-0 against New Jersey, strong Islander turnout in NYC/NJ as always. Not a big fan of the penalties or Berard taking them a little too easily but the pk did the job. Sutton and Meyer have been outstanding for a while now and Meyer made a few great reads in the Canadina game too.

Now we have to see what happens with Chris Campoli.

A few well earned days off.

AHL.com: Reports Jeff Tambellini had another big night for Bridgeport with two goals and an assist as the Sound Tigers came back from two goals down to win 3-2 in Norfolk.

Kyle Okposo had two assists, Ben Walter has the other Bridgeport goal with Frans Nielsen contributing two helpers.
