Islanders website: Has the recap of Monday's 4-1 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

"A total team effort," Ted Nolan called it. "A great team game."

"You'd be hard-pressed to find a player on our team who didn't contribute tonight," said Nolan. "Bergeron is getting his shot off and they're going in. Mike Comrie was excellent on the power play. We have kids like Blake Comeau and tonight Ben Walter stepping in and stepping up. I'm very pleased with these last two games."

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Outstanding effort across the board against in a game the Islanders badly needed considering four out of five wins still had them in last place entering the game.

It has to continue.

Shocked Carolina did not cover the point better on the powerplay. Islanders offense tonight easily could have had six or seven with the chances they were getting and even though Grahame was pulled he made excellent saves early. Guerin was getting into scoring area's again and his first period chances to me were more impressive than his goal, Walter also had a great chance to score and was robbed.

PP finally came through, the time and space Bergeron and Guerin had on their goals was due to some good work by the Islanders and some poor coverage by Carolina.

I was impressed with the team defense that again did not put Dubielewicz into many situtations where he had to make a great save. They also did not go for the quick penalty when Carolina had them running around for a minute in the first period. Nolan's got a very tough choice if Radek Martink is ready to return Thursday if he has to pick between Meyer and Bergeron.

Best of all this team showed some confidence on offense, not just throwing the puck at the net and hoping for rebounds, but getting some great chances in transition and looking for the quality chance. Some of those three on one's the plays were there but they missed the net or the goalie made a save, but the patience shown reflects a team no longer pressing, that has settled into it's game.

Fedotenko's goal and that setup is what this team needs so much more of. Vasicek and his line again was outstanding.

Great start to the New Year and a great team effort.
