Newsday: Greg Logan reports in the Islanders Newsday blog the club has signed center Frans Nielsen to a four year contract totaling 2.1 million that includes a one-way provision in each year of the deal, with Mr Logan writing it virtually assures Nielsen will be on the Islanders roster.

Mr Logan also reports Bruno Gervais was at prospect camp Friday, is said to be in top condition and that negotiations on the club's final restricted free agent are progressing amicably.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
The one-way contracts are filling up the roster but this puts an end to speculation Nielsen would be returning to Bridgeport and another great signing by Garth Snow to lock him up for this long.

Personally this also brings a big smile for all the e-mails I exchanged with his family when I was covering prospects years ago.

Congratulations to Frans Nielsen and the beginning of a long and great NHL career.
