What Can The Islanders Do? Keep Working

Unless Garth Snow makes a move or Scott Gordon wants to look at other players from Bridgeport the only thing the club can do is keep working on the system and stick to it's plan.

Of course no plan will turn Park, Thompson, Fritz or Hilbert into goal-scorers and for every minute Tambellini sits in the stands is another step backwards for him along with the other players with potential who need an NHL opportunity. Kyle Okposo should never see another shift off his natural position, it is more than enough to play your natural position at this age in the NHL.

I know folks want to throw Pock and Skinner under the bus along with some of the other defenders but the circumstances are asking them to do a lot more than they should be. If Scott Gordon wants to send Pock, Tambellini to the AHL they risk losing them to waivers.

Meanwhile it seems every game Bergenheim does something to create a goal, that's the good news. Nielsen had another goal against Montreal, a good shot but it's not the goals but where he is getting chances from.

On paper a 5-4 loss to Montral is a good effort, how it came apart however must be the story.

All Scott Gordon and his players can do is get back to work. Expecting to win games waiting for some of these players to score is not realistic.

I suspect push is coming to shove soon because if you cannot win you have to get younger on the ice.

Where that leaves Mike Sillinger and a few others just does not add up in the long-run.
