Newsday: Greg Logan in the Islanders Newsday blog & Peter Botte/Kristie Eckart in the Daily News report here goaltender Wade Dubielewicz was claimed by the Columbus Blue Jackets on waivers with the goaltender expressing his disappointment.

Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio reports Peter Mannino is already driving down with Len DiCostanzo heading to Binghampton for tonight's road game.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Hate to say I told you so but when I read three teams were considering Curtis Sanford as he went on waivers, then passed and Dubielewicz signed with the Islanders and needed to go through the same process I expected one of the teams that may have thought of Sanford decided to wait for Dubielewicz.

That's exactly what happened, I'm not surprised. Did anyone else look at the recent injuries and struggles of Sanford last week?

A lot of folks apparently thought Dubie clearing waivers would be a formality, I was not one of them.

Best of luck to Dubie in Columbus who will be in a playoff race where he belongs at least for now.

To clarify this for those who do not understand or want to blame Garth Snow or call this a mistake Dubie had to go through NHL waivers to rejoin the league. In this instance because the Islanders were doing the signing they had to let him pass through waivers.

If Columbus had signed Dubie he would have to go through NHL waivers and then the Islanders based on standings would have first chance to sign him.

What's next? Columbus may have to put a goalie on waivers for Dubie. A week from now Dubie or another Jackets goalie may be back on waivers.

Than Garth Snow will have first call. Remember Freddy Meyer's journey?

Don't be shocked if Dubie is an Islander again within a few weeks as the Columbus Dispatch goes through the ramifications with their injured goaltender Pascal LeClaire
which includes Wade Dubielewicz and gm Garth Snow's comments here.
