Newsday: Greg Logan in the Islanders Newsday blog reports according to an NHL source the Islanders have reached an agreement with former goaltender Wade Dubielewicz on a pro-rated contract for the rest of the season of a $500,000 annual salary. A few words on some past background on Scott Gordon-Dubie are included.

Also reported goaltender Joey MacDonald is out two-four weeks according to Islanders head coach Scott Gordon with what the beatwriter calls the high end of that time frame expected.

Mr Logan also reports the club has indicated plans to provide an update later today on the condition of Rick DiPietro but speculates Dubie's signing could mean DiPietro's season may be over.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Horrible news on MacDonald who was fantastic for this club and hid a lot of flaws early with some outstanding play. I have no idea what to expect from Wade Dubielewicz but I suspect he will battle with Yann Danis and not be handed the starters role.

I'm not sure what to expect on DiPietro at this point. MacDonald's injury regardless with about nine weeks left after the break it's most likely all sides want to look out for DiPietro's future.

Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio in his Sound Tigers blog reports on how Peter Mannino was given the news of his recall on the ice and despite Mr Logan-Botta both reporting it head coach Jack Capuano could not confirm this for the beatwriter who had a few words on injuries/illness for some players at today's practice.
