NYI Fan Central Comments:

Here it is the final road game for NYIFC and the New York Islanders 2008-09 season with the magic/tragic number at two to clinch the most ping pong balls next Tuesday.

Needless to write Pittsburgh (who have clinched a playoff spot) needs this game for any chance to move up and with teams below them and this their final home game to lose could put them in a position to drop as low as seventh entering the final day of the season. To win gives them an outside chance for fourth place and home ice in the first round.

I have little doubt Bill Guerin and Scott Gordon will continue to say all the right things given their interviews since his trade to Pittsburgh.

It's also needless to write Dan Bylsma and his staff is going to look to jump all over a very fragile team after such a beating as quickly as possible to put the game out of reach and let what happened in Carolina snowball to Scott Gordon's skaters who now have to replace Blake Comeau who I presume will not be playing with a fractured wrist even if he is not on today's updated Islander injury report here.

Have to wonder what's up with Dean McAmmond who left a game over a week ago if he's not feeling better by this point?

If the powerplays are again 11-1 or something like that the game is going to fall apart quickly if they do not have the goaltending early and eventually even if they do.

The Carolina game was the kind that leaves a team questioning themselves until they play a good game.

I'm very interested to see the reaction from Scott Gordon's skaters who last time in Pittsburgh lost a 1-0 game and can obviously play with this team most games given all the early games they had them down entering the third period. Streit is back, so is Bergenheim, it should have given them a lift on Tuesday.

Of course that 9-2 loss was the other game in Pittsburgh.

Yann Danis started three in a row, I felt MacDonald did a solid job with no help at all on Tuesday, I cannot see how he does not start here but I wrote that on Tuesday.
