Islanders website: Posted their pregame vs Boston Wednesday night which makes no statement of this signing at this time.

Concord Monitor: Reports Senior Matt Campanale of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team, who signed an amateur tryout contract with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League earlier this week, has been called up to the New York Islanders of the NHL. Campanale is expected to be in the lineup for the Islanders' game at the Boston Bruins tonight.

Campanale skated in all 39 games with 11 assists. He posted a team-high +25 rating. The senior defenseman was second on the squad in blocks with 48.

NYIFC Comments:
The Ness, Donovan ATO contracts are exclusively for Bridgeport, the pro contracts do not begin until the following season.

Several area papers have posted this information, the Islanders website has not issued a release.

Updated:
Islanders website: Announced signing of Campanale per emergency rules that apparently only permit one game in the NHL. Jack Hillen is out apparently out for Wednesday's game.

If Hillen's injury lingers or all the defenders injured in Bridgeport cannot return it means Ness, Donovan may be asked to come up (unpaid) for games Friday and Saturday under same conditions.

Rick DiPietro is expected to start in goal.

The twitter box will return at 4pm.
