Season Over For New York-And it deserves to be

Roy did his proud/resiliant dance, ignoring they gave up two fast goals & were outshot 21-4, so did Palmieri/Lee who made clear it sucks/bad bounces.

New York In A Dead Building Forces Game 5

Carolina has not impressed me in one game so far, for all their speed/skill New York should have won the first game, Carolina found themselves with the goalie pulled trailing in game two, and barely worked up a few shots as they hung on in game three. Nothing close to the team down the stretch. Andersen has been very good or very bad. Today Carolina looked all set to mail it in, and still had the lead & gave it back before of course the NYI gave it back. Horrible officiating, missed icings, calls were happening everywhere. Varlamov held them in great, and they finally got a bounce off a Dobson shot, and Lee was taking the faceoff when the ping pong player dribbled one past Carolina for a lead. Overtime Carolina got 17 shots in first one, should have won off Nelson turnover, but got to second overtime. Freak Bortuzzo shot into pile hit Barzal and we have a game five with a two day break.

New York Down 3-0 Not expecting a full comeback

New York loses two games they should have won

They had to win game one, they outplay Carolina, and failed to do so with some help from the refs for Carolina, and were the better team. Game two they took only 12 shots, with none for the first sixteen minutes. Carolina had 110 shot attempts and outshot New York 19-1 in the third, and still New York had the lead with Carolina's goalie pulled. Tying goal/winning goal nine seconds later. ENG. 2-0 and all the excuses in place as to why they could have won the series but lost. Unreal, but hardly unexpected. First time in the teams history they lost a playoff game up 3-0. Ping pong Pageau returned, -3, no surprise.

Ultimately if they don't win this series these two games are where you have to look, they deserved one win, and despite being dominated were in position to win again, but failed. Roy's press conference was little more then two minutes. He failed to take his timeout, a goal was scored. We know what happenes when they win a bunch of games in a row, they lose a bunch of games in a row. Whether it be 4-5-6-7 this will be where they lost the series. It's bitterly disappointing but was expected because that's what this odd season has been since day one. Varlamov outplayed Andersen in game two, he had little help. Dobson got roasted like Stadium series in overtime on GWG. A high stick goal was disallowed for New York. For their 12 shots, Horvat also missed a breakaway.

Go prove everyone wrong. Only winning the series does that. Now they have plenty of excuses why they did not win.

Dobson: Expected to return Game One/Tikkanen-Jefferies ELC 2 year

Lee has returned to the team.

Cizikas-Horvat-Barzal Fasching-Nelson-Palmieri Lee-MacLean-Engvall Martin-Clutterbuck-Holmstrom (Extras: Wahlstrom, Iskhakov) Romanov-Dobson Pelech-Pulock Reilly-Bortuzzo (Extras: Aho, Bolduc) Varlamov (starter’s net) Sorokin

Series Projection: Carolina In Five

Sorry, add to it no rest, maybe Lee/Pageau unavailable, what happens when unbeaten streak ends because we see big winning steaks followed by big losing streaks with Varlamov inploding.

Saturday 5pm Game One: Reg Season Ends 5-4 win vs Pens

A lot of long-term scratches played very well. 17-1 outshot after fast start, but Pens faded. Pitch and putt with nine iron for 15 goals/23 games made me look bad. Keep doing it. Ping pong left injured early. Wahlstrom looked very good, Holmstrom scoring hands goal. Too much pressure when Pens put Crosby/Malkin out there, but their team had breakdowns. Hardly a soft game 82 a lot of wear/tear. Now they get least rest in NHL and play Saturday at 5pm. Sorokin was much better then score, and faced many prime chances.

Have not been optimistic wrote go win 10/12 and they did, but name of the game is win the Stanley Cup, and they must do that regardless of who or where. Not like they did not beat top teams this season or down the stretch to qualify. They need Dobson (he's skating) but we'll see. Failed experiment looked half empty, and was a morgue. Goodbye Arizona, felt like Long Island politicians out there.

New York Signs Marshall Warren Two Year ELC

The prospect is updated to reflect all changes/RFA.

X-New York Qualifies Again With 7th seed. Carolina part III

Projecting out the season 5:

Tonight, a team they blew a 4-1 lead against at New Jersey and lost 5-4. (one point would have clinched a spot) A second 5-4 overtime loss at the failed Belmont experiment, followed by Patrick Roy NYI outclassed with a 4-0 shutout. No Hughes, nothing to play for tonight but Devils final home game. New York will wear blue. Roy going back to Varlamov over the teams best goaltender.

Any kind of win=third seed. Carolina, Boston, Florida, Knicks hockey or see you at Barclay's in September are the menu.

Projecting Out The Season 4: Close/Could Still Miss Out

Officials finally give our team a huge powerplay advantage vs Knicks hockey (not a favorable review) 0-5 with the man advantage, allowed a short-handed chances, many others too. Has anything changes since Covid game 7 vs Tampa+ two coaches later?. Should have won going away, even without Dobson. Sorokin was great. Knicks hockey looked very soft, despite shots. Another point given away.

Projecting out the season III: No Dobson?

High marks to New York, they played a bad team that was 2-0 against them, they came here rested off nine goals, and still NYI allowed only 14 shots. I'm not Pageau fan (as everyone knows) but he took on Gallagher and threw some fists. Laura Ingalls Engvall gave them something. Still they were trailing in the third, and found some luck, this time without Dobson, who is about 30 percent of the teams offense off his shots. Cizikas of all people got a gift wrap around and somehow Palmieri's overtime all or nothing shift resulted in an odd angle winner.

Let them make me look bad, don't care. I write based on what I see, and not wrong. Most years they would be long gone from a playoff spot. As usual the powerplay was lost in a game they had a 4-0 edge, and must produce with it. No answers if no Dobson unless Pulock gives them something.

Now they go play a team that frankly dominated 2/3's of the last game without Dobson, with an early start, plus for all of Sorokin's talent, he's faced so many shots all season it's hurt him, he could steal one on Saturday, but it's not likely unless more players find up, and step up. The goals can't be Engvall/Cizikas/Riley. Yes, Nelson hit a post, Barzal came close, Horvat came close. The ping pong player for his five million has to give them the garbage goals Palmieri has. Either that or no playoffs/very fast playoff exit.

Projecting out the season II

Projecting out the season

It's nice they won a few games (one a blown lead at Flyers), and for today hold the eight seed. It would take a seasons worth of long-overdue production out of most of these players to qualify. They did have a gutty win at Columbus (who were rested and just beat Colorado 4-1) after almost being shutout by league worse Chicago and never would have scored if not for an odd bounce that led to Holmstrom's goal.

Forget the tiebreaker that's gone, they must beat out everyone in points, they only have 25 regulation wins.

Formerly struggling Nashville today is 15 over, on a three game losing streak, solidly in a wildcard spot, and you can bet Barry Trotz wants to beat Lamoriello. Knicks hockey wants that top seed, and expect the refs to have a hand in the game as they did in the stadium series fiasco, and the other game. New York needs to win both of these, before NYI stopped playing Knicks hockey, we owned them when league was not giving them Covid games that should have been cancelled twice in 2021-22 or a game in NJ we host so they get 44 million from Hochul/ESD.

Does New York ever not lose to the Canadians speed, the failed Belmont experiment will be largely empty. At Devils who roasted them 4-0 recently (remember the lost lead game there before that?) or the finale vs Pens who won 7-0 at the failed Belmont experiment.

I know some want me to write things just to make them happy or lie to you. Just to match Lane Lambert last season they need to go 5-0-1. When they were 19-20 over at the end of seasons I was very happy to give out the praise as fast as the criticism. I don't have any faith in Cizikas as a first line winger, and they will continue to get little rest.

What I remember most about 1994 is Hextall was so bad New York had no chance, and the game that broke the 17-0-2 streak was all Hextall imploding. We would still be chanting 1940 if Florida got the last seeed. This time our goalie is one of the best in NHL, but team is as bad as Ron Hextall, but Roy does not want to play him.

Be careful what you wish for. If New York qualifies you might wish they did not make it in the end. But here we are.
