Roy Does Not Answer For Himself/Players Not Doing Sat Pre-Game Press Conference
Roy made clear enough, Lamoriello runs upstairs, he runs lineup.
Of course I posted what the public deserves to know because those are NHL rules.
Rift between Lamoriello/Roy/Players/Failed Belmont Experiment
#NYC #NYI #isles Clearly there is a rift between Lamoriello & Roy, only one worse is one between team our slumlord Dolan/Oakview/Leiweke/Stone with Collins selling off our brand like a minor league team with minor league support in a location not fit for the NHL.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 27, 2024
#NYC #NYI #isles Lamoriello speaking does not give the team any right to violate NHL rules and not make the players/coach available before the game. Obviously something very shady going on here with gm/coach/players/failed Belmont experiment.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 27, 2024
#NYC #NYI #isles Why is Lamoriello saying Engvall is a top six player when he was not used that way last season or in Bridgeport? That's coaches call/not gm. Same as Roy who does not know players names. Despite we speak every day mantra, no one's listening. Roy was likely furious
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 27, 2024
#NYC #NYI #isles Clearly someone wants Matt Martin playing and someone else does not want him here at all. (correctly)

Lamoriello Speaks/New York Blows 3-0 Lead/Usual Suspects Struggle
#Isles President and GM Lou Lamoriello addressed the media ahead of tonight's game.
— New York Islanders (@NYIslanders) October 26, 2024
Watch now ⬇️
Team broke NHL rules not making Roy available in pregame.
Romanov was hurt vs Devils/Cholowski was recalled.
Blew 3-1 lead they can't have happen, usual suspects who can't defend, scored three against Panthers backup. Same problem players 44-21-53-32-21.
Matt Martin-SIGNED/Duclair/Recalls
Roy can't pronounce Foudy's name.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 26, 2024
#Isles Transaction: The New York Islanders announced today that Matt Martin has agreed to terms on a one-year deal.
— New York Islanders (@NYIslanders) October 26, 2024
Team devoid of scoring signed a player who will take minutes from Foudy, Wahlstrom, and the gang that can't score will have another player who can have a few fights by appointment and nothing else.
Roy can't pronounce Foudy's name.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 26, 2024
Foudy Recalled-Duclair longer term/Gauthier-Bridgeport
#Isles Transaction: Julien Gauthier has been assigned to Bridgeport. Liam Foudy has been recalled from loan.
— New York Islanders (@NYIslanders) October 22, 2024
The problem was not Gauthier, or Wahlstrom, it's 53-32-44 who eat minutes and give this team nothing, while our head coach basically said he had no confidence in #16 after one game.
Lamoriello Lies/Duclair Injured/Gauthier waivers
#NYC #NYI #isles Lamoriello said Laura Ingalls Engvall is only a top six player. Today in Bridgeport he's the third line center.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 20, 2024
Gauthier played only last night in another game 53-32 were terrible against a poor Habs team, that hardly played well and got the game to a shootout.
Supposedly Fasching is hurt and the player getting the call.
Belmont Retail Village "Soft" Opening Today
#NYC #NYI #Isles📷 Belmont Park Village officially opened today to no people/politicians or media. This is a soft opening will operate every day until 6pm/7pm. https://t.co/Zbx70Ikfbt

The Problem Is Not Going Away
17:34 TOI Shots 13-5 Utah Scoring Chances 14-2 Utah High Danger Chances 10-0 Utah Goals 2-0 Utah
And who are Roy's go-to players? Pageau who can't kill a penalty, Cizikas who can't kill a penalty. MacLean who was swimming in his skates with them, and Pageau-Palmieri who are out at 3/3 in overtime who when they lose the puck it's game over. And Dobson gets no mercy, his turnovers continue from last season, and they are awful game changers.
Spare me Pageau scored, he was dominated the entire game, Holmstrom made the work for his fluke goal, it's a miracle he got enough on his backhand for it to find the net. 21-44-53 they get one goal and give back two.
They have to phase these players out of key roles, it's bad for Holmstrom, Lee, Wahlstrom before he's scape-goated. No law Palmieri or Pageau can play overtime when Barzal-Horvat-Tsyplakov-Duclair-Nelson-Lee-Wahlstrom should be the only forwards out in overtime.
NYIFC Projection: 11th in East
#NYC #NYI #isles My projection is this is the year some teams finally take a big step forward in this conference. Not just NJ. PPL forget in 2021-22 9th seed NYI were about 18 pts behind the 8th seed. The low water mark will not be 92 points/12 over for a third straight ssn. 1/2
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 7, 2024
#NYC #NYI #isles I think the problems Pageau, Palmieri, Cizikas bring are insurmountable, and there is age in #29 game with a big ask of #10-11-26-27 16-53-32 to produce what's needed, and turn the tide in games. I like the six D + goaltending but special teams. 11th place. 2/2
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 7, 2024
I'm not a fan of Patrick Roy, who's career record beyond one year is that of a mediocre head coach no one was chasing after. Lou's been a cap ceiling general manager, and has a lot of very bad contracts on his resume, and not because they were great players, but mediocre players their entire careers. Pageau got his contract because of one twenty four goal run in Ottawa when he was red-hot, he came here, scored one goal in seven games before 2020 covid, and at best when back to be a career thirty point player who today gave us a 32nd ranked penalty kill, along with Cizikas who was a first line LW in last year's playoffs who's no scorer, and who's speed/defense has been in decline. Palmieri had some pitch and putt goals during his last gasp 15 goals in 23 game streak, he's been a bust here before that, and he can't win pucks or backcheck. No, Horvat, and Barzal are not great on defense.
Lamoriello/Final Roster Monday 5pm: Engvall, Bolduc, Fasching Waivers
No Lamoriello video, he only spoke to Dime Club members w/Collins about Belmont.
Forwards: Engvall, Fasching, Foudy, Karlstrom.
Defensemen: Bolduc, Hutton.
Goalies: Hogberg, Skarek.
Martin no contract/remains on PTO.
Gauthier, Cholowski, Wahlstrom remain on roster.
Sebastian Aho was placed on waivers by Pittsburgh.
Any waiver claim means someone here today, could go on waivers Monday afternoon.
#NYC #NYI #isles Nothing personal but will be thrilled if Laura Ingalls Engvall is claimed. No gm in his right mind would claim that cap hit for his production/mediocre play. If he's great somewhere else and beats NYI so be it, don't see it happening. Take #53-21-44 with you.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 6, 2024
#NYC #NYI #isles Cholowski was bigger, noticeable and steady as a LD he'll sit behind Romanov, Pelech, Reilly. I guess it's play or go elsewhere for Bolduc. Gauthier has speed and was finding holes. If Wahlstrom or someone starts slow, he'll draw in.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 6, 2024
#NYC #NYI #isles I don't think Bolduc will be here tomorrow, perhaps Hogberg who was signed from Europe and has NHL experience. Usually no one is claimed at end of preseason in this era of fitting salary with cap.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 6, 2024
Expect Some Very Tough Decisions
It's getting under the cap vs the players who have cleared waivers before like Hutton, Cholowski, Foudy, Fasching, Gauthier.
The gm makes the decision, not who the coach likes.
Do they risk Wahlstrom or Bolduc being claimed?
Obviously a decision has been made about Matt Martin, who's not even playing. To keep him in Ross Johnston's former role means someone has to go, even with a two-way contract.
#NYC #NYI #isles Without injuries they have to lose a salary and some players, unless a shocker Lamoriello has to expose players to waivers. We know dead veteran weight staying like 44-21-53.

Sorokin-Fasching return to full team practices
That means some hard decisions will come after Friday. Martin-Wahlstrom-Fasching-Gauthier-Foudy-Bolduc-Cholowski-Hogberg-Skarek-others. They must be under the cap early next week. I don't think it matters if Sorokin plays in a game or Varlamov plays on Friday, come out of the game healthy with the opener six days later. The players I want on waivers/traded 18-44-21-53-24 obviously are not being traded unless it's a shock that clears cap space when most would clear waivers.
My expectation is Martin will stay in a Ross Johnston role on a two-way contract even if he can't fight. Cizikas-MacLean and one of Holmstrom/Foudy-Fasching-Gauthier-Engvall will be the choices.
Decisions for New York
Unless Ilya Sorokin (back surgery) starts the season on long-term injured reserve, the team will likely only be able to roster 22 players due to the salary cap. So between Fasching, Oliver Wahlstrom, Samuel Bolduc, Gauthier, Matt Martin and Engvall — who had not previously been considered at risk — only two can be on the active roster.
Of course they could always go all in and put useless Pageau, Palmieri, Cizikas on waivers or find a trade to take their contracts along with Mayfield. Last night against Flyers the team was terrible against 1/2 Flyers roster who outplayed them and win without Skarek.
#NYC #NYI #isles I was more happy losing 6-4 with a 4-0 lead and dominating 55 minutes of that game + being shutout by Flyers vs what I saw tonight with most of the best players vs 1/2 Flyers team. So much dead weight on this roster among vets. They lose 5-1 in reg ssn tonight.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) October 1, 2024
Could care less Mayfield made a play among his three penalties, or pitch and putt Palmieri finally won a puck for a cheap goal against some minor leaguers after losing every puck battle in all three zones the entire game with ping pong Pageau was comepletely useless, and does nothing but hurt Holmstrom/Lee.
