Tsyplakov Signed

Cameron Berg-NHL/UFA

For those scoring at home Cameron Berg signing an AHL contract with Bridgeport is not an NHL contract with New York. If he does not sign an NHL contract by 8/15/25 aka his graduation deadline date from college, he is an NHL UFA free to sign with any team at any time. Bridgeport will continue to own his AHL rights.

He is not considered a New York NHL/prospect unless he signs an NHL deal.

This is the 2025-26 schedule

Eklund ELC/Notables/Mitchell

Lot's of prospects to go.

More changes to the prospect site with the Bridgeport/Worcester headers returning.

NYS Hockey Hall Of Fame: Smitty, Jiggs, Morrow, Townshend

The interviews with Smitty, Jiggs & Grame Townshend were posted on 7/17/25.
The NYS version of this began only four years ago, the site is a bit pedestrian with some older you tube video's of Potvin/Westfall induction here.
Smitty and Jiggs look great.

If I can get some twitter/interviews will update this posting, both Smith/Jiggs did twitter interviews.

New York Notables: Math Says Two Years to Barclay's or Relocation

I don't waste time writing for entertainment. And I do feel NYI (especially Bridgeport) are on borrowed time. This league's BOG got together, and took away the ASG, with no sign of giving it back. We kept a coach who deserved a pink slip to avoid paying another one, and the signings were all one year. That's short-term. It feels Lou kept Pellegrini/Chris around for AHL transition, maybe an NHL transition.

Sure they got D with tons of term, and yes Romanov got eight years. Was he going to turn down that term even if only the next two years are here?

Fire away, and bank on Tsyplakov getting two years at best and likely one.

You can bet BOG are sick of an announced Belmont sellout for the opener, and then empty seats until the holiday's. That cap is going up big, new CBA done, now NHL has to pay for it's increases with filled buildings. And they are sick of praising Nassau-Suffolk for staying home. I hope Joe Tsai or even Cohen would purchase team, move them to Barc.

Gatcomb Signed/Problem

Patrick Roy Press Conference

He discussed a lot of things, Gross pinned him down on last season, but not Lou Lamoriello here. He also discussed Duclair, and will meet with him in person.
I'm not a Roy fan, and felt they needed a new head coach, also Darche needs to find a way to move on from 44/53, and to bench 21 at the first sign of trouble when he can't back check or goes into his usual 1/25, 2/28 slumps like he had last season. He's responcibe for the worst powerplay in decades last season. Bridgeport's new coach Rocky Thompson also had a press conference. Hamilton was not asked about here.

Bridgeport Names It's Coaching Staff

New York Wins the Shabanov Sweepstakes

They needed a scoring forward, and hopefully this addresses it, and he took one year, and hopefully this is good for Tsyplakov. I'm very happy with this move.

Heineman Signed

Roster Updates/Beginning of the End

Sam Bolduc signed with the Kings on Tuesday.

The prospect site is updated, it does not include anyone over the age of 25. A link at the bottom will bring you to all players in the organizaion of any age. Some of Darche's signings yesterday are over 25, none are beyond next season. The players under contract who would be ogligated to play in Hamilton are listed above. Mostly likely would be in the NHL or gone by that point.

I have little doubt Bridgeport will move to Hamilton for 2026-27, despite local government just finding out in Ct despite ten year lease from 2021, and 30 million in renovations. Oakview operates/both buildings in Ct/Hamilton but does not own them. I hold the fans in Bridgeport completely blameless for a franchise that had not had not won a playoff series since 2003, and fell off the map during the pandemic. I also do absolutely think when 26-27 concludes the failed Belmont experiment will also end for the New York Islanders as it's home. The team will return to Barclay's or sell out of market as Aqueduct/Belmont become the Parks #1 event. The rent-a-team NHL will be moving on with the built for music concerts being what it was always for. Dolan will negotiate a TV contract buyout on 2031 deal which is close to 200 million dollars. Bew owners will pay the 86.25 million to leave Belmont which is a drop in the bucket, and the league will have no problem with a team playing in a 1/2 filled building moving to a place with the building filled 41 times. If Malkin/owners sell they will get close to two billion. Malkin will sell/keep his retail village as he rents space to tenants. New York Islanders cannot play in that location in a 1/2 filled building. Time will be up once and for all. Also expect the ECHL lease which concludes in Worcester not to be renewed after 2025-2026

Everyone knew Belmont/Queens would never work, the revenue/fan support are not there. No shock NHL cancelled the ASG for minor events, and no doubt the other owners, expect NYI to make money or the league will find a location that will.

Darche Press Conference/AHL Signings/Holmstrom Signed

Darche press conference.
Close on his RFA's, one very close-Holmstrom.

Not doing long-term at this time.

Two-way contracts coming for AHL.

A few words on Duclair playing hurt.

Reilly-Fasching unlikely to return.

Varlamov rehab on schedule, wanted insurance.

The prospect site will reflect the 25/under group signed only to NHL contracts in the next day.

Jonathan Drouin Two Year Contract

G David Rittich to New York/Ethan Bear Two-Way

They cannot hope Varlamov is healthy much longer, Rittich a a backup. Hogberg was not impressive at the end.

RD Ethan Bear is also coming on a two-way deal here.

Tony DeAngelo One Year Contract

They needed his offense, defensive mistakes regardless. The RD list here and in UFA was very weak. It's not a replacement but best they likely could do without a trade. He had the hammer here, surprised he did not hold out for three years from soneone, this was someone no one wanted last year in Russia.
