Islanders Website/AP: Has tonight's pregame against the Rangers at Msg.
NYI Fan Central Comments:
Last night's game was a taxing game for the Islanders, especially in the third period/overtime. Maybe tonight the Rangers drop their trap, go after the Islanders early and try and score a few to force Ted Nolan to change his strategy on a club that may go back to Berard or stick with the same lineup that won which has been his trend.
Or the Rangers have some rust on their game after three days off and will attempt to do too much against what is clearly their biggest rivals.
Can Tom Renney come up with a way to out coach Ted Nolan with three day's rest? To this point Nolan has had the better of Renney for two seasons.
DiPietro had to work very hard and was extremely active so it may be asking a lot for him to do win another low-scoring game.
From the Rangers side he will not have to deal with Avery who is going to have wrist surgery and will be out for a while. Straka has done well against the Islanders and will be in the lineup.
Islanders for their part will have to keep working in the corners and finish and put some bodies in front of the net on the power play. They seemed to have far more high quality chances against the Senators but simply missed the net which could be a sign this offense is getting close to a big night.
Islanders will get a long break from the Rangers after tonight. Win or lose the next time they meet things will likely be different for both clubs.
