NYI Fan Central Comments:
Strange game.
DiPietro flat out stole a point for a team that again came out and was not working giving up forty five shots and drawing only one powerplay. Canucks are hardly an offensive powerhouse.
Too bad DiPietro could not win the skills competition and gave up a goal to Linden and a defender. Islanders miss Kozlov in shootouts. Blake Comeau made a great move in the shootout but a great goalie made a big save.
Islanders were lucky to get out of the first period and very lucky that goal by Guerin counted even if Luongo played it poorly. If offsides is not to be reviewed and the puck was in why did they go to a replay?
Too many times shorthanded again and a lot of undisciplined plays. as usual a lot of passengers.
Ted Nolan again shortened his bench. Comeau's goal was huge and off another Luongo mistake. Of course Islanders gave it right back which was a weak goal and really had only one good shift where they got chances in the third period (about five minutes left) and overtime with Fedotenko coming close. That's unacceptable.
Islanders got a point. Pittsburgh won their seventh in a row, Philadelphia, New Jersey all won, it's not enough.
Islanders have to keep pace, three overtime losses in four games is better than nothing and I have been calling for points in every game if not wins.
Vancouver crowd was classy with DiPietro, our fans could learn from that.
