Islanders website/AP: Has the preview for tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators.
NYI Fan Central Comments:
First thing I read about tonight's game was the struggling Islanders are 24th in league scoring. I know that's not very good but compared to last year when this group was getting ready to score two goals or less in fourteen straight it's a vast improvement with a lot of injuries.
No lineup changes at this time (unless Martinek returns) which means Josh Bailey plays NHL game number two and Mike Comrie who was last years leading scorer for the
Islanders does not play against a team he had a great game against last time the club went to Ottawa winning a very rare game.
I know Ottawa is under five hundred and struggling or the powerhouse they used to be, but the Senators received some public criticism from it's general manager and despite going 2-2 against the Islanders last year have dominated them for years.
They have Heatley, Spezza and Alfredsson to create chances and finish.
Skating clubs with skill from this division have been a huge problem for the Islanders and despite the record have been in almost every single game. This could be one of those games where the club takes a step back but simply put the 08-09 Islanders need points right now and better play like a desperate club or there will be changes sooner than later.
It's almost fair to ask is it getting late early for Tambellini or Okposo to keep getting minutes if they do not produce? These players both need to be far more visible in a sixty minute game.
