Injury Updates/Corporate attendance bumps?

New York Islander Fan Central | 12/30/2022 11:29:00 AM |

I find it interesting a team that has had six dollar seats again they could not give away, had all tickets prices over $100.00 and a standing tailgate over $75.00 the last two games with a massive crowd of kids. The building was absolutely packed and I do acknowledge the holidays is usually a time the Islanders historically sold out or came close. This is a franchsie that had 11,000 in first place in March 2019 in Nassau vs Columbus. Is Leiweke, UBS, all corporate partners/sponsors given tickets as perks to inflate prices on the secondary market and activate a standing room tailgate? Something smells very funny about this like NYPD-NYFD which seemed to be the most well attended game in advance in 2020-2021 when this failed location at Belmont opened.

Ticketmaster had prices on 1/10/23 vs Dallas at $30.00 which is what's it's been all season as even opening night vs Florida was hardly packed.
So where are all these kids coming from, it looked like a game at Dolan's other arena after you get past his facial recognition, and are not on his ememies list or have ligitation against him or his friends.

New York 2nd in Division In Goals With Non-Scoring Roster....How?

New York Islander Fan Central | 12/29/2022 08:17:00 AM |

It's kind of hard to explain NYI goals for number being second best in division with a roster filled with non-scorers and middling veterans who struggle. They had big wins early vs Ducks/Sharks but also games where they scored 4 goals and lost like Nashville/Blues. Dobson, Nelson are putting up big numbers, Lee despite his slump is going to go hit 20-30 goals. The high goal totals vs some top teams have to be given their due along with wins vs Canes, Leafs, Vegas, Devils, Colorado, now Pens. Having written this they went 0-2 vs Arizona, 0-2 vs Nashville with 5-4 loss. They seem to score a lot of garbage time goals both way but in a win you have to score to get to garbage time. It's not Trotz lowest-scoring/top defense teams as they allow more w/better D. NYI go into games and I frankly expect them not to score but here we are at 36 games and a roster with 8-9 non scorers produce. You never know where the next goal is coming from unless Dobson scores or sets it up. But here we are.

Still today they are a bubble team outside the play-offs and have some seperation vs teams below them despite the games in hand.

Season Slipping Away For New York

New York Islander Fan Central | 12/26/2022 05:43:00 AM |

No, it's not last season, however for 7/8 playoff seeds if they keep up winning 7/8/9 out of ten, it will be, while NY muddles along playing five hundred with an injured/flawed forward group when healthy.

Why is Lamoriello so happy/satisfied?

New York Islander Fan Central | 12/20/2022 12:52:00 AM |

The same Lou Lamoriello who ran Devils that fired coaches in 1st place in March. Teams are passing NYI all over the conference, and all the players on notice are still not producing much of anything? 92 shot attempts by Colorado, Sorokin stealing a point with over 45 saves. Colorado's announcers saying NYI were not interested in playing any offense after first period. So why was the gm so happy/satisfied today in the NY Post? Lee has two goals in about 19 games, and to expect Nelson to have his slump sooner or later who's carried them with Dobson, and a mobile defense while the usual old/overpaid suspects don't produce a thing. And Colorado at best is a middling team this season.

Nikita Soshnikov Unconditional Waivers/GONE

This is goodbye time. If he clears at what he makes he likely returns to KHL.

Kabanov, Petrov, Golyshev, now Soshnikov. Owners, buildings, management changes but players who come here this way simply don't stick.

Enjoy the preseason goal.

Odd Win in Vegas For New York...Varlamov hurt, Holmstrom 1st...

New York Islander Fan Central | 12/18/2022 01:11:00 AM |

They needed win but only kept pace, feels like mild, mild west very beatable with Vegas top team not impressive. Varlamov left late, for some odd reason he's getting 1a treatment with Sorokin. Fasching had a nice move looking like Bellows who scored with same move. Nice first for Holmstrom, Barzal was largely invisible, Lee did what he must do. ENG late for Nelson, and Parise will look better on scoresheet but not answer. Reilly Smith has been killing NY since 2016 playoffs. Too many shots against but doing this without Pelech as Salo struggles to find puck movement of last year. Bailey deserved an assist on Vegas first goal. Still too many veteran passengers. Thompson's body language was like Arizona's goalie--terrible. Now we see with Varlamov. Bottom line one forward/one back with several teams on winning streaks not close to getting it done. It's how you finish near five hundred again.

Bottom Line for New York

New York Islander Fan Central | 12/07/2022 12:54:00 PM |

If you are counting on Parise, Hudson Fasching, or more goals like Martin was gifted with against Hawks, book your draft party early. It's not going to happen. As expected unless Lee/Nelson are scoring this team is not winning. Mayfield had two bad turnovers, Sorokin had a rare soft goal. Bailey fell asleep as Blues forward went to net, went down via Romanov, and Bailey was slow to get to net on a great second effort rebound with Romanov still on him. No wonder Bailey flew up the ice to set up Parise to fend off another healthy scratch.

Pelech looked like head/neck, not legs, we'll see. No hiding from Devils, Blues, Canes, at Colorado. Bottom line feels like 2017-18 when team eight over fell back to 500 because scoring dried up and they could not win 6-5, 5-4 anymore. This is different in that they need ugly 3-1, 2-1, 1-0 games and that regulation loss number is just not going to get it done, losing in overtime/shootouts are points.

Baudreau sent back down 49/20 shots: Another regulation loss/one goal

New York Islander Fan Central | 12/03/2022 02:02:00 PM |

Simply put a lineup filled with non-scorers healthy catches up to them, now they have injuries & more non-scorers. Regulation losses kill. Could not expect comebacks every game same as 2017-18 teams lack of defense took them from eight over to 500. Not a question of effort, 49 shots, no regulation goals allowed with best goalie in NHL and unless Lee/Nelson scoring it's not happening.
