“To be locked in here for 8 years is special to me and special for my family. We can’t wait to get everyone here.”

I'm stunned/very happy. Does not fix the log jam at center, or a lot of other problems on the wing but improves the scoring a little, and not being a rental changes everything. I don't think Lamoriello is done, whether he's selling or buying will be determined by the standings at the trade deadline. It's highly unusual a player makes this kind of commitment without playing a game, it's likely Vancouver did permit some discussions on a contract prior to the trade. Still it's a very good day for the New York Islanders to get a franchise scorer in his prime.
#NYI #isles I'm stunned & very happy. For a traded player to make this kind of commitment immediately is unusual under any circumstances, especially when his career position is not available & the current standings. Great day for New York City regardless how the ssn plays out.

#NYI #isles The deal does not break the log jam at center unless he's making a commitment to become a full time RW. I expect more changes to the roster whether it be buying or selling at the trade deadline. This move is now for the future, and a great one.

#NYI #isles My playoff expectations are unchanged for a team with historic level offensive struggles for close to a month that scored three goals once and lost. The only time NY scored 6 goals was against Horvat. They need 9/10 wins starting in Philadelphia. Someone in mix will.
