Islanders website/AP: Has the preview for tonight's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
NYI Fan Central Comments:
Three games in four nights against a team waiting for them that could get Sidney Crosby back, not a good proposition and could get ugly but another showcase game for the Islander prospect and another opportunity for the veterans.
My guess is Ted Nolan goes back to Dubielewicz but maybe he wants MacDonald to play back to back and see how he responds which is something done on a regular basis in the AHL?
I expect it's not going to be a good turnout for this one or a very receptive crowd.
The Islanders were eliminated from the Eastern Conference playoff race with the loss because at least one of the three Northeast Division contenders closest to them will finish with more points because of several head-to-head matchups, preventing the Islanders from finishing eighth but at this point it's just bookeeping.
Fair or not I'm going to put this out there. Jeff Tambellini has to do a lot more than what he is doing with this opportunity. Unlike Okposo and Comeau and even Colliton who are visible he seems to go from game to game where you do not see much of him. Maybe that means he's concentrating on defense but these other prospects are all playing defense too and skating. Steve Regier seems to be getting more chances and more visible.
Two years ago Islanders were in the same situtation with Tambellini as he played here for a month, scored against the Devils and then just went from game to game as he is doing now. He's not forcing management to give him a spot.
Versus game tonight for those watching on television.
