Newsday: Greg Logan's early recap (without lockeroom quotes) notes the Islanders averted a disaster coming out of this one with an overtime win and correctly point out Comrie had an open net for a possible second goal in the first period in his game recap.

Updated article has Scott Gordon praise for Joey MacDonald bouncing back very well after he talked about the turnovers that hurt the club but credited his team for hanging in. Frans Nielsen talked about the play that led to the game winning goal while Trent Hunter talked about the goals he scored and the work that led to them.


Newsday: Greg Logan's second article also goes back to Sabre game and was on the penalties the club took against Buffalo with head coach Scott Gordon's comments that the club has to skate and must get away from hooking and holding as a substitute. Mark Streit comments on his expanded role as a defender playing shorthanded that Scott Gordon has had him on the ice for twenty five minutes on avg, as he feels he can do better and is very happy about it.

Gophers are the same team Kyle Okposo was playing for a year ago at this time for those curious. A bit surreal he is playing in the NHL now when you compare how far he was come so quickly.

Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio interviews former WBS Pens forward Kurtis McLean as he makes his return in an opposing uniform Friday with head coach Jack Capuano's comments on McLean does that makes it easy to suggest to the Islanders who should get the call when a player is needed.
