Newsday: Greg Logan has an update from Scott Gordon on the status of his goaltenders with comments from Rick DiPietro. Mitch Fritz will not be in tonight's lineup.

Islanders website: Has the preview for tonight's game.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
No clue at all what Scott Gordon does with his goaltending, this was the stop for DiPietro's toughest outing last season, he did not do well in Florida with a team that has had the Isles number last year and beat them pretty good in the second game.

Paul Ranger returns for Tampa Bay, the Melrose era Lightning seem to have trimmed what appeared to be about fifty players for a while, a lot of new faces.

Islanders have to learn to play better defense without Radek Martinek and create some changes of their own against a goaltender and defense that should play into Scott Gordon's overspeed system. Mark Streit and whoever his partner have to have better chemistry.

Bottom line, I want to see a sixty minute effort and a club that can pick up at least a point here. Joey MacDonald if he gets the call will do what he did in Bridgeport and that's keep the team in the game most nights, Buffalo was more the exception.

Two fragile clubs here needing something to build off of, if Olaf Kolzig starts Guerin should be ready after his hat-trick last season against him.

Problem for the Isles is Martinek's speed and skill to move the puck away from Lecavalier, St Louis and now Stamkos is missing from that defense.
