NYI Fan Central Comments:
That's more space than Brendan Witt has received after a practice since he signed here so we knew it had to be a negative story. Positive stories just are not news worthy.
Having written that we all know it's not a time for positive stories.
Not good when a leader on defense talks at length about why the system is not working while the coach responded that's why we practiced it for two days in print.
I have to admit the defense looked better with Witt out or at least more like a unit. When Witt talks about Scott Gordon changing his system twice it seems like this is something he will try and buy into but knows it's not going to work for him as hard as he will try to play it.
I do not see a lot of transition goals against but play in the Islanders end of the ice where other clubs keep finding the passing lanes which look like poor coverage reads, it got a lot more noticeable in the Penguins game at the Coliseum and seemed to really put the club in a tailspin.
We'll see what happens, but this is not good.
The gm has to back his coach here or he hangs Scott Gordon out to dry making it a bad hire. The gm also considers Witt a team leader and just gave him a three year contract.
Welcome to the gm chair, Garth Snow.
