I will change the title of this entry when/if something happens.
If a trade does happen the Islanders are not getting Ovechkin, Kovalchuk folks.
At the absolute very best (unless a gm really is off his game or doing his Don Waddell impersonation) a first rounder and a mid-level prospect/player are coming in return.
I would not count on anything nearly that high for a thirty eight year old UFA, Guerin on a top team is a third line player. He was worth a first rounder two years ago but that was then.
I'll miss Bill Guerin if he is traded, a lot was asked of him here. Only the people behind the scenes know if he did a good job as captain. It is far too much to expect first line production on a team without first line talents but like Comrie and others he did his best on two teams with so many injuries and took the role as captain for the first time in his career.
Whether he stays or goes good luck to Bill Guerin.
Wake me when/if.
Who knows, someone at a media outlet may get a report right by then with all the sources and re-re-re interpretations of this story.
