NYI Fan Central Comments:
Phoenix only has one win in five games but it was against the Boston Bruins.

Coyotes played and defeated the Islanders in January on Doug Weight's 1000th career point night and the game Josh Bailey scored his first NHL goal in a 5-4 loss.

Both teams have made some major changes since obviously with the Coyotes trading Olli Jokinen to Phoenix while Don Maloney robbed Glen Sather blind getting Petr Prucha and Nigel Dawes for a defender with one powerplay point all season with a big contract.

Sing no sad songs for the Coyotes, they come in with these players including Scott Upshall from Philadelphia, center Matthew Lombardi, right wing Brandon Prust to go with Dimitri Kalinin, add to that their strong roster with Shane Doan, Peter Mueller, Ed Javanovski, prospect Mikkel Boedker who the Islanders traded down from to draft Josh Bailey who has ten goals.

Phoenix comes in nine points out of a playoff spot in 14th place so obviously it's as close to a must game as a team can play without facing elimination.

Ilya Bryzgalov has started fifty four games, even with a game in Detroit on Tuesday I expect he will play this critical game. Mikael Tellqvist did start in the 5-4 win
against the Islanders.

Updated-Phoenix will start a rookie in goal.

Phoenix goes from Buffalo to New York for today's game than Detroit and right back to New Jersey for a game with the Devils before heading home in a strange scheduling quirk.

NYI Fan Central Comments:

For the Islanders I expect we will see Nate Thompson, Richard Park return or a callup from Bridgeport to take Trent Hunter's spot. In terms of the right side Bridgeport on Saturday had Joel Rechlicz, Junior Lessard & Tomas Marcinko.

It should be noted Kurtis McLean was called up as a right wing earlier and scored for the Islanders was listed as a center for Bridgeport Saturday.

Of course there is Jon Sim who is playing left wing for Bridgeport.

Sound Tigers play at home against Hartford at 4pm Sunday to close out it's three game weekend.

Updated:

Mr Botta at Point Blank reported Kurtis McLean was recalled for Trent Hunter, no media confirmation at this time.

If he plays this likely means Thompson still not ready or they will carry an extra forward on the trip. Put the man games lost for Sunday at eight unless Thompson does return.

Islanders go on a road-trip after today, which will include Brendan Witt who's suspension ends after Sunday.

This could be it for the city media coverage with the club's next home game March 25th. This is a six game trip with a four day break in between and a three day break at the end of the trip. Islanders will finally play their first road game against Carolina on March 20th.

Six home games left after today.
