Associated Press: Recaps New York's 3-2 win against Phoenix on Sunday.
NYI Fan Central Comments:
Josh Bailey's first goal at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Mike Iggulden another point.
The kids keep rolling with Tambellini crashing the net for a goal, Okposo scoring a beauty on the best play of the day and Josh Bailey getting a nice rebound with an open net.
Not a classic for the Islanders (three games in four days) who started the game very well against Josh Tordjman but tailed off quickly after making him work early.
Coyotes has the extra step, took the body very well but the Islanders defense despite letting up forty shots did not put Danis into a position where he had to make many great saves which he did on Ed Jovanovski. You could make a point the Devils had far more pressure yesterday but the Coyotes had more zone time in the offensive end but generated fewer quality chances.
The goal Phoenix scored for the lead was a two on three where it looked like Bailey and Gervais got crossed up, other than that they did a very good job killing the five on three and the other Phoenix powerplays.
Second period Islanders got it going after Tambellini's goal and started putting the pressure on more which led to the Bailey, Okposo goals.
On this day the Isles got the video reviews but Hilbert (who was rocked a few times) knocked the net off before the puck crossed the line and no way did Tambellini knock in the puck by batting in in with his hand or a high stick.
Usual standout game from Streit who was shooting early, Callahan just eats minutes and plays mistake free. Pock does not look out of place.
Three games in four days no team is going to have the jump they did on Saturday but they kept up and at times carried play, for Iggulden it was three games in three days.
Solid win again against a team that scored five goals against the last time, Upshall looked very good getting a chance. Not sure why a rookie started for Phoenix but he played well enough.
Now we see what they can do on the road. 4-1-1 at home in six games is excellent for any team in this league.
