Stole a game back after they gave it away, and wasted what should have been another shutout from Sorokin. Schmid was leaking goals early but NYI never had sustained pressure, and despite the 2-0 lead were on their heels in their bend but don't break strategy until it did as the usual suspects #53-21 gave them nothing. Pulock was too high up as Vegas kept exploiting that down low rush the net from the corner play, Pelech bailed them out a lot on those. Finally Vegas speed ran rings around Heineman, and NYI defense until they scored late in the second. Heineman/Holmstrom were the best forwards by a mile. Too many long passes from bad angles was the offense besides simply shooting. Schaefer had a nice shot from middle/Heineman did what he does above the crease. Palmieri again missed an open net besides his own twice. Finally New York gave it all back plus the lead before Barzal did what he needs to do more which is use that shot. Schmid was getting beat from that one side, Pageau finally gave them something and his miracle shot found the corner against a bad goalie. I remember the Peca shorthanded goal vs Buffalo on New Years Eve in 2002. Ultimately it was a game they gave away, took back. Next stop/Barclay's II in Utah.
