This was a great game/great win in overtime on a night it looked like Utah would run them out of the building early in a very poor first period. This was a major character effort where they got themselves back in the game during the second period, and took over play on a night the team was tired. Rittich removed any/all doubts with his play/puck moving he can win for this team. Schaefer after taking a hip on knee and hobbling off, returned and blocked a shot, and was hobbling again. He kept skating, kept going to the net, and did the reverse play he setup Barzal for that won the game in overtime where Utah never got the puck. Heineman/Holmstrom again scored or were everywhere when the game was in the balance. Pelech was very sold. Pageau for all the criticism he receives here made big plays/threw a big hit after Romanov took a hit to make a play. Ritchie came close a few times to a goal.
This team is starting to convince me they can push up the standings, and have some character as a group. Drouin for his lack of scoring is making plays, others are lacking offense but getting closer. Cizikas/Palmieri have been struggling to be kind. Romanov had a very poor first period. Utah took the third period against Buffalo and broke the game open. Last night New York broke through and outworked a rested team when it mattered, it was very impressive.
#NYC #NYI #isles Very impressed they took over that game, and wore down a team that dominated the first entirely by the end New York was coming at them in waves and made Utah stop skating. They deserved a regulation win but felt at end of second they were in this more then Vegas.
