Romanov IR/Warren Recalled/Win vs Dallas/20 Games |

Romanov was placed on IR Wednesday, Marshall Warren was recalled. Fair or not the Dallas player was clipped by Mayfield's skate, I agree with no suspension. The call against Horvat was a joke, but he is responcible for his stick despite losing his balance. Roy's job is to protect his players right or wrong, and despite the roster issues, clearly they are a team and support one another.
Rittich was excellent again, and the shots against were down again. Not going to find teams playing better then Colorado/Dallas so here we are after twenty games in a conference where one team is sub five hundred.
Have I moved on from my preseason viewpoints as we saw their veterans outskated often by prospect teams? I need to see more would be the most honest answer. The goals are there from Horvat to league leading levels, the team clearly rallies around Roy. Heineman is a very nice surprise, and they are beating toughest teams and keeping shots down. Not like 44-53-21-29-27-11-7 are producing goals most are badly overdue with Heineman, short-handed goals hiding a lot of issues with Schaefer + Pelech/Pulock look good lately. Could be much worse because having most transition goals vs least offensive pressure, and so many games they won trailing late, or have a bad 1/2 game or more and won. Aside from Wings 7-3 win most games they struggled. They are scoring with goalie pulled/had big comeback vs Columbus, not conventional way of winning. They need those 4-1/twenty shot wins in the tool box, we have not seen many of them besides game at Caps.
Bottom line twenty games, they have survived the 0-3 start/poor home record, we saw many past seasons over by thanksviging. Now we get to see more. Hopefully those above names not scoring start producing. I don't know if a goalie coach change has helped but Sorokin is moving well/tracking pucks, and Rittich has won me over, he's been excellent.
