#Isles News: New York Islanders General Manager and Executive Vice President Mathieu Darche announced today that Patrick Roy has been relieved of his coaching responsibilities. Peter DeBoer has been named Head Coach of the New York Islanders.

Stunner, this is Darche's team, his player acquisitions, his failures. I'm glad Roy is out but this was a team that was not good but somehow managed to get to get to fifteen over despite all the games with two goals or less, with a terrible powerplay. I almost feel like Malkin called Lou, and he made these decisions. I felt they were coming out of it in the third against Carolina, and without Bussi's save on that one timer they get to overtime. Deboer has come and gone a lot, they got an outside name coach who will have four games to get them in the playoffs. No doubt they will be outside the playoffs by Thursday when the other teams play their games in hand. If Darche really felt this way he had a lot of time to make a change before this. Stunner.

Very odd decision this late, it could backfire but after 0-4 what happens they go 0-8? Felt they were coming out of it in third against Carolina.
