Playoff Math For New York

New York had an excellent night scoreboard watching on Thursday, but there is no more hiding, no more .500 hockey (worse) or there will be no playoffs. Pens have an easy/easier schedule, so does Columbus, and there really no margin for error. Goals/defense/wins with Roy juggling Soucy, Boqvist, Mayfield is a tough go against any team. The goals have to come likely without Holmstrom who has been great considering he's been stuck with Pageau far too often. If Eklund/Eiserman/Beckman/others were coming up they would have been at Thursday's practice.

We don't want to write about the 6-2 beating Carolina gave them very early that was painfully memorable. Or the recent game in Montreal, or the recent loss to Ottawa, or Dobson coming here for Montreal likely with their spot clinched. Toronto took a memorable game for Schaefer, with Tavares who would relish killing NYI playoffs in a nothing game where he does his best for the Leafs.

That's not a mistake above Florida plays two games in Pittsburgh on back to back days, and Blues to close the season.

New York went 0-2 vs Winnipeg.
