Newsday: Mark Herrman has reaction to the Islanders 4-0 win Thursday against Tampa Bay starting with Mike Sillinger.

"I've got a lot of years left. I'd like to play 1,000," DiPietro said. "I don't know what the equivalent is for a goalie, but it would be exciting to have a day like Sillie had today."

Newsday: Mark Herrmann has an interview with Islander legend Butch Goring on what one thousand games means, what the Islanders will do with Al Arbour's 739 banner if they win Saturday and Fedotenko's comments about playing his old team.

Neil Best: Has a blurb on Islander television ratings up a hundred fifty percent and some words about Al Arbour night and what FSN is planning.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Imagine what they would be if Msg did not hide half the games on FSN-2 which has limited HD and put some of their ITV shows on FSN on gameday.

NY Post: Dan Martin in his limited space reported Rick DiPietro had problems getting into the locker room after the game as the lead in to his story.

NY Post: Michael Starr reported four Islander games will be appearing on New York Chinese Radio station WZRC. (1480 AM)

Newsday: John Jeansonne had reaction from Ted Nolan, DiPietro, Sillinger and Bill Guerin.

"We were rusty at the start, but I don't think that's an excuse to lose 8-2," forward Mike Sillinger said.

"I don't want to sit and make excuses," DiPietro said. "We did have an extensive layoff, but whatever it was, hopefully it's out of our system."

Newsday: Mark Herrmann wrote an article on the Devils Prudential Center and asked why the Islanders cannot get the arena renovation they need with an updated timetable of what's going to happen next in the approval process.

Note-Steve Zipay's Ranger centric article mentions the Islander signings are outscoring the Ranger signings and gives the numbers vs salary, but little else.

Daily News: Brian Bohl does a game update.

Newsobserver: Lorenzo Perez Herald Sun: Provide the Carolina centric coverage.

NY Post: Mike Puma is the latest now to cover an Islander game for the Post in his limited space.

NY Post: Jay Greenberg & NY Post: Former Devils employee Larry Brooks of course do all they can to rain on the Devils parade for opening a new building by basically insulting the Devil fans, the City of Newark and the overall team for reasons that only show why hockey in New York is desperate for quality writers who want to make our sport more popular, not ruin it with articles that reek of envy in a sad display.

NY Post: Rumble section on sports celebrities led with Al Arbour coming back to coach next Saturday and a funny story on how he benched actor and Ranger fan Tim Robbins in a charity game a few years ago.

Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio has reaction from the players and coach on Saturday's loss at Norfolk. Jeremy Colliton's shorthanded goal accounted for all of Bridgeport's scoring. Darryl Bootland cleared waivers and skated on the right side with Frans Nielsen and Tambellini.

"I question our team's conditioning, first off," forward Jeff Tambellini said. "Three in a row, that's a joke. It's unacceptable to be blowing games when you have leads. Winning teams don't throw away third-period leads."

"We were doing everything we were supposed to do," coach Jack Capuano said. "We came out in the third period, and some guys thought it was going to be easy."

Norfolk Virginian Pilot: Has the Admirals coverage.

Newsday: Greg Logan's recap of the game talks about how the Isles will juggle seven defenders, Berard's impact, Bergeron's goal which was the club's first three on three goal since 1981.

"I know playing seven can be frustrating," Berard said. "You're in the game, you're out of the game. It's a tough decision for the coaching staff."

Newsday: Mark Herrman does a feature on Berard.

"I don't take things for granted now," he said. "I did have the game taken away from me for about a year and a half with the eye and almost [the same] with the back. I just love to play."

"What really led us to believe he was ready was his commitment to foot his own bill and stay here and want to be part of this," Nolan said.

"It would be kind of tough for me to describe what 'B' has been through because it's harder than anything I've been through," said Bill Guerin, the captain. "Now, obviously, it showed tonight. He's a big part of our team."

Newsday: Steve Zipay's Ranger centric coverage.

"If we were in a situation where we're not getting chances, that's when you've got to worry. What can you say? Three games in, Ricky played awesome. We threw everything at him."

New York Times: Ranger beatwriter Lynn Zinser had commentary from DiPietro and the Islanders.

“We came together pretty quickly here,” said Bill Guerin, the Islanders’ new captain. “In my opinion, the closer the guys are off the ice, the closer we’ll be on the ice. We’re not a star-studded team. We’re hard workers who have to play together. If we don’t play together, we don’t win any games.”

“We’ve got guys here who are selfless guys, who don’t mind jumping headfirst, feet first, whatever they can do to stop pucks,” DiPietro said. “That carries a lot of weight in close games like this.”

Daily News: Brian Bohl did another Islander game recap centered around Berard.

"I came in to prove I'm healthy," said Berard, who also suffered a career-threatening eye injury in 2000. "We came into the season with high expectations. I'm feeling good. I'm only going to get better."

"I can't imagine losing sight in one eye and continue to play at this level, and he's able to do that," DiPietro said about his new teammate. "We're excited to have him."

Daily News: John Dellapina's Ranger centric coverage credited Rick DiPietro.

Journal News: Sam Weinman would have looked good in the blog box for the Rangers considering all the positives he found in another Ranger loss but does quote Berard.

New York Post: Larry Brooks did not even mention the Islanders or send Dan Martin out to get the home team's perspective. Considering Martin in his very limited space Monday wasted it on attendance not sure anything lost here.

Ct Post: Michael Foranbaio's Ct Post blog has an eight minute video interview with the beatwriter previewing the Sound Tigers.

Ct Post: article is on Frans Nielsen.
