NHL Territorial Rights |

Excuse me if you have not read this before. Dolan wants the Islanders out of NY entirely to regain NYI territory, save 300 million dollars, and install his own AHL team at the Coliseum.
He would lose his tax exemption (50 million a year) in any outdoor game as the home team.
Malkin/Ledecky have to approve a Sabre home game inside their territory with written consent.
1/1/18 is the official 1st day in a 30-day window, Prokhorov, Ledecky/Malkin could drop their Barclay's opt-out notices, basically guaranteeing the team leaving NY entirely by the end of that season or one after.
Ok, back to trying to win 9 of 13 games to face a team 30 games over five hundred in a 1-8 playoff series.

Ok, still not much can be changed from 1/26/17 entry beyond being in realistic contention at this time, and NYI not being a team playing a 50 game preseason.
A few nice stories like Ho-Sang call-up, Bailey, Lee, Ladd, Weight, but the wear/tear/travel of this schedule is likely too much for any team to hold one playoff spot available to them. One new trend has been some big losses which were overdue.
They are making their best run at a spot under circumstances the fans should be proud of in this division.
1/26/17: New York Not In Realistic Playoff Contention With Horrible Schedule Unless 95+ Points
Don't feel entries should be written or repeated as in past, more of big picture look at things.
Hoping for best, which is this case can only be a playoff match-up against a team rested, ready, close to 30 games over five hundred.

Worcester Railers
Telegram.com Has interview/video with gm. Back to NYIFC update on this 1/17, this will become the Islanders new ECHL affiliate in June after the agreement with Missouri Expires.
The Railers' NHL affiliate, which can't be announced until the summer but is unofficially lined up to be the New York Islanders, appears to be exactly what Worcester had hoped for when it began looking for a partner.
As always prospect changes (including Andong Song to Cornell) are reflected in the prospect blog.

"We're extremely happy," Russell said. "We couldn't have scripted it any better. We were very diligent in the process and really think we hit a home run."

Will likely write something late afternoon/early evening 3/1 if a significant move is made.
Personally like the current group/all the prospects & do not see this as a year where they can only finish 8th to lose players for rentals. (in two years or this summer)
Also think they need Halak.
