Newsday: Greg Logan has the early recap of the Islanders 4-3 shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins along with Miroslav Satan's comments about leaving the Islanders because of their youth-movement and signing with Pittsburgh here.
NYI Fan Central Comments:
Satan should know better than anyone the Pens had some of the same problems drawing fans for years until the ping-pong balls bounced their way. With only one full-time beatwriter for the Islanders he may have had more to say that did not make the article.
Post-Gazette Dave Molinary & Tribune-Review with Mike Prisuta has the Pens coverage.
NYI Fan Central Comments:
Great stuff from Dave Molinary who had comments on Okposo that did not make any of the local papers along with the very funny story on Fedotekno and what Mike Sillinger had waiting at his locker.
NY Post: Dan Martin's article has comments from head coach Scott Gordon about the club sitting back in the third period and Andy Hilbert.
Daily News: Peter Botte did not have a single quote from the coach or players about the game but did report on Nate Thompson's injury along with the Islanders man-injury games lost already at seventy nine and climbing.
NYI Fan Central Comments:
For those scoring at home this means the New York Islanders will lose about seven hundred man games to injury if things go this way all season. It's almost never mentioned anywhere nor was it once last season when they led the league at over four hundred man games lost.
The Republican: Gary Brown has a few words on Islanders captain Bill Guerin from Wilbraham and ex-Falcon Mitch Fritz not knowing he was sent back to Bridgeport.
Newsday: Mark Herrmann has a feature on LI products that have made the NHL and the upcoming prospects in the area with comments from Mike Komisarek and Chris Higgins of the Montreal Canadians.
Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio recaps Bridgeport's 5-4 against the River Rats with comments from goaltender Nate Lawson and head coach Jack Capuano.
Daily Gazette: Has the River Rats coverage.
