UPDATED: Next Up For New York 6/26 Qualifying Offers/Notables

New York Islander Fan Central | 6/26/2011 07:47:00 AM

New York Islander Fan Central Prospect Blog: Has more updates/articles on 2011 draft class.

Working on newspaper/website comments from all the new players selected, and a perfect image of that great looking 40th Anniversary logo.

The NHL Draft is concluded, but business is ongoing.

The deadline to make qualifying offers to the teams restricted free agents is Monday at 5pm.

If Garth Snow was asked about who he qualified (as many professional beat-writers have asked respective general managers around the NHL), it did not make the local paper that controls New York Islander coverage as of this time. The beat-writer covering our team, keeps writing Ryan Jankowski, was dismissed two months after the Canadians hired him per their website?

In short: Josh Bailey, Blake Comeau, Michael Haley, Jack Hillen, Dylan Reese,
Ty Wishart, Dustin Kohn, Tomas Marcinko must receive qualifying offers Monday for the team to retain their rights.

Updated:
Josh Bailey, Blake Comeau, Micheal Haley, Jesse Joensuu, Dylan Reese and Ty Wishart were qualified. Jack Hillen was not as of this time, but subject to change before deadline.

Michael Fornabaio tweeted: Dustin Kohn not on that list of qualified as of Sunday. Tomas Marcinko only other unsigned RFA, not likely to get qualified, this is also subject to change before deadline.

Ct Post: Mr Fornabaio has a bit more, but nothing new on qualifying offers to the Bridgeport centric-players.

Bruno Gervais, must now be qualified by Tampa on Monday.

Rob Hisey, Robin Figren are restricted, however both signed in Europe. It is possible Snow could qualify them, as he did with Jeremy Colliton.

Some quality players are already salary-cap casualties, who will not be qualified and on the market as unrestricted free agents on Friday.

NYIFC 6/12/11: Entry went into more depth on qualifying offers process and what is next in that process.
***************************************
It was quite an interesting few days on the trade market with so many clubs scrambling to add/subtract cap space, or those which made outright huge trades, especially Minnesota-San Jose. Dale Tallon, who signed Brian Campbell to his contract with Chicago, traded for it once again in Florida.

As I wrote the other day, the CBA needs some changes, but it's working.

Hopefully Nikita Filatov becomes a star in Ottawa, same as I hoped he did with Columbus. Only issue here is the Columbus Dispatch beat-writers constant digs at the New York Islanders, but not the team they cover, for what was a player clearly mismanaged by the Bluejackets.

Fliatov also bears responsibility.

A lot of that going around this league in the media, knock other markets, not the one where paper needs local team advertising money.
**************************************
All I ever read is the Islanders are scrambling to reach the cap floor. Really?

The Islanders seemed to subtract Wisniewski/Roloson and still were over any cap floor last December? Hamonic's NHL contract was added early last season, Wishart's first-round contract was called up 2/5/11. Koskinen was called up with his contract, same with Poulin?

Don't believe everything you read in newspapers guessing, or fans sites doing cap numbers, that are not official NHL affiliate outlets. I understand in the absence of official league information folks will accept anything, however that does not make it correct.

How do you think Forbes decided to become NHL experts with only estimates?
Our professional media also uses these kinds of sites now also, very sloppy.
**********************************
No issue here with Ryan Smyth doing whatever he is allowed to do within the framework of his contract. The Kings can always refuse his request. This is another advantage of front-loading, because Colorado paid the bulk of his money early, Los Angeles paid less, and now if he goes back to Edmonton they will pay the least.

His average cap-hit only helps Edmonton, it's money they will not pay him.

Updated:
Smyth is finally a confirmed trade to Edmonton.

Darcy Regier really needed Ales Kotalik's three million salary that badly? Robyn Regehr is a solid player, but either Regier was watching old game films of Kotalik or he caught Terry Pegula in the honeymoon spending period?

Color me skeptical Ted Nolan, lasts very long now that Rochester is the Buffalo Sabres affiliate. Regier/Ruff go back to Nolan's time or replaced Nolan. Terry Pegula has his work cut out.

The lack of thanks/praise to former owner Tom Golisano, who kept that franchise going is not appropriate.
**********************************
The Islanders website coverage was frankly not good this weekend, virtually nothing archived (at least yet) from the scouts, or Snow in articles. Seemed to go video centric, and a lot of that was NHL-related.

A lot was done live with a team centric-ITV feed, it has not been made available as of yet.

Having written that those folks have been working very hard, and have had to go above and beyond for a while. Press conferences with Mangano at Coliseum, coverage in Las Vegas, in Minnesota, from the draft party.

Hopefully Wang meant his employees, when he praised the folks working round the clock, the other day. They sure do deserve it.
***********************************
I understand the hype will start soon to add UFA.

Look at the current roster and how many players are signed? Not immune to trades, or signings, but as I have written every year, to add, you must subtract.

No folks, this team does not need Brad Richards front-loaded, likely over 50m dollars/hopefully without concussions. Tavares, Bailey, Nielsen, Strome, Nelson, Cizikas, Ullstrom, and all the other centers under contract are good enough unless Snow is looking ahead to UFA for Nielsen, who is not a five on five scorer.

If Snow trades Nielsen, includes in a defender (Eaton/Mottau/Jurcina) in a deal and them wants to make a run at Richards, that risk makes more sense.

You qualify Josh Bailey, put him at center, and leave him there, unless a team is offering a star player at Bailey's age.
*************************************
No idea what will happen with the goaltending. I do not like the idea of three top quality players, who need to be number one goaltenders sharing the work in Bridgeport, who's head-coaching search just got much tougher with all the AHL hiring by their parent teams.

I more than understand two are coming off surgery, same as at this level. No doubt the Islanders do not know how to proceed either.
**************************************
As for NYIFC a free agency section will be setup Tuesday/Wednesday.
I like the new sidebar format for information, sorry the old one failed during draft.
Considering a twitter box for Islander centric/former players only here.

Islander News Articles 3/3

New York Islander Fan Central | 3/02/2009 10:33:00 PM
Newsday: Greg Logan's game coverage has comments from Jon Sim, Jesse Joensuu and Bruno Gervais.

Newsday: Mr Logan's other article was more speculation on Guerin & Doug Weight with head coach Scott Gordon again commenting on the beatwriter's Saturday article that he does not think Mr Logan's report tells the full story and maintained he has no problems with Guerin staying here as he had no objection with the decision for him to sit out pending a possible trade.

The coach speculated the comments may have been from players no longer here like Campoli, Comrie as sour grapes and maintained he has continued to talk with his captain since the Canadian trip (Jan) several times and has no problem with him and it could be from other areas.

NYI Fan Central Comments:

I wonder how some players feel about this all getting into the paper, causing somewhat of a distraction or if they felt this would go on the record anonymously and if they want to continue to speak with Greg Logan/Newsday?

One thing for sure is Mr Logan is getting max play out of this. The silence from Mr Botta is deafening as he is clearly in the middle in terms of confirming or denying which may have someone unhappy with him in the end but he did get Brendan Witt's comments who made it clear he has no problem with Scott Gordon Point Blank and felt what was reported in the paper should stay in the room.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
As always, visit Mr Botta's blog for the full article he produced.

NY Post: Dan Martin's coverage has some of the same comments from Scott Gordon on Bill Guerin but added Garth Snow did not speak to other teams without Guerin's approval. Jon Sim comments on the teams play, defended Guerin as a " good guy " and that the team would have to be professional if he does return to play.

The coach also maintained the importance is on the younger players making progress and that it works out well for everyone else with Guerin or whoever having an opportunity to win a Stanley Cup.

Daily News: Peter Botte's limited space only has room for Jon Sim's quotes about Guerin as he speculated about possible trades and had no comments or game recap beyond light attendance, who scored and Hunter's late injury that forced him out.

Daily News: Thomas Zambito did receive about the same space for a sports section article on the latest legal update concerning former Islander execs Paul Greenwood and Stephen Walsh.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Nothing from Joensuu, Danis, they deserve better. So does the team the way it has played.

Denver Post: Teri Frei recaps Colorado's loss on Monday but had a full interview with Ryan Smyth Monday here.

"You see the banners and the history the Islanders have had," Smyth said, gesturing at the huge pictures of Islanders past and present and the Stanley Cup flags hanging from the rafters. "There's just something special with what went on."

"It was an emotional time," he said. "I didn't think a trade would ever happen out of Ed-monton, but it did. The Islanders welcomed me with open arms, treated me with a great deal of respect. I have nothing but great things to say about that organization. "We made the playoffs, we got beat out in the first round, but the ownership — Mr. (Charles) Wang — was nice, and was nice about having me and we sat down and chatted for a while. Garth Snow was fresh at being a general manager in the league and he treated not only me but the whole team really well."

Smyth said he did feel a twinge of regret for not re-signing with the Islanders "because they gave up quite a bit to have me. I think overall, it was tough for me to make a quick decision about something that involved not just me, but my whole family. They made offers right up to July 1, and they were right in the mix, too, when we finally made our decision to come to Colorado. I have a great deal of respect for how they treated me in those two months."

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Funny how Mark Herrmann did not write all of that in his no top players will sign here article when he only printed a few words from Smyth. Not like Smyth was obligated to throw that kind of praise around about a team he only played a month or so for two years ago.

Metro News.ca: Perry Lefko has an interview with Mike Sillinger about all the times he has been traded in his career but had nothing about his future playing status or the current team.

NYI Fan Central Comments:

Funny thing is Sillinger has not been part of the NHL trade deadline for a long time now, maybe by default because of his injuries but he will finish his entire three year contract and talked like a man who will be in Saskatoon this fall.

USA Today.com: Mike Brehm reports Yann Danis ended January with three consecutive wins, and his play in February earned him USA TODAY's Clutch Goalie title for that month. The computerized formula factors in shutout time, saves, penalty kills and the amount of time playing in a tie game to figure out who's best when the score is tight.

His comments are from the Islanders website in the article.

Harvard Crimson: Jake Fisher has a feature on Islander prospect co-captain Doug Rogers who is credited as a major reason for the Harvard's success. The 6’1, 195-pound center has recorded a point in each of the last five games and leads Harvard with four goals in that stretch.

Ct Post: Michael Fornabio's previews Tuesday's home game against Norfolk and has the Sound Tigers weekly here which happen to include some Jesse Joensuu comments pre-callup.

Islander News Articles 3/2

New York Islander Fan Central | 3/02/2009 07:04:00 AM
Sound Tiger articles in their Sunday game thread.
Islander game preview scheduled to post at 11:30AM.
Wake me when/if a trade actually happens.

Tsn.ca: Darren Dreger included in his Guerin-Morris update Sunday night regardless of whether he is traded or not Bill Guerin will not play for the Islanders against Colorado Monday which no other media outlet confirmed or to my knowledge reported.

Newsday: Greg Logan for the most part re-wrote his blog entry on Bill Guerin with head coach Scott Gordon comments on his captain's trade status, his current roster and the beatwriter's Saturday locker room story.

Mr Logan added word from the Guerin camp at 8 p.m. confirmed there was no deal to report Sunday night and adds relations between Gordon and a group of veterans ruptured beyond repair at midseason, most especially with Guerin.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Scott Gordon keeps saying he has no problem with Bill Guerin, if things have ruptured beyond repair with a group of veterans no one is putting names to quotes to support this which does not mean it's incorrect but begs the question what's the point here and if you knew don't hold the information.

Newsday: Mark Herrmann had Greg Logan's back as expected, claimed this has been boiling for weeks and that Gordon should have treated Guerin better and what this means for veteran free agents in the future under this coach, while Ryan Smyth did not take the bait and credited how he was treated in his short time here.

NYI Fan Central Comments:

Funny how when Mr Herrmann was running down Glen Sather's record this week he did not make the same points about future UFA not signing with the Rangers. Only Bill Guerin at this time knows if he does go if he is leaving distraught. It's not like he was given fourth line minutes or benched here by Scott Gordon.

Guerin played eighteen minutes his last game and was on Scott Gordon's powerplay for close to five minutes which will make no story, does not read like he was left out of anything vs the prospects.

Ted Nolan sent Alexei Yashin home with his bad knee (after coming back early) and told the press not to return until he was ready to play and Nolan was not called out by the media for it.

NY Post: Dan Martin's headline writer gives us something misleading and while Scott Gordon's comments on Guerin returning are included he adds Guerin, however may feel differently.

NYI Fan Central Comments:

The Post headline writer knows Islanders bumbled the trade? There is no evidence of this and three parties need to agree here between the team, Guerin and the other team?

We have been offered nothing that indicates this for now.

Denver Post: Teri Frei has the latest on the Colorado Avalanche who are in the NY area.

NYI Fan Central Comments:

Colorado has a game on 3/4 at home so with them in the area do not expect this game to be rescheduled based on weather under any circumstances. Schedule has no real breaks for them to return and unless Colorado has a dramatic turnaround this game will mean little in the playoff race unless they free fall in the lottery race.

Isles made right call not to overpay Smyth

New York Islander Fan Central | 5/12/2008 07:14:00 AM
Rocky Mountain News: Rick Sadowski wraps up Colorado's season with former Islander Ryan Smyth's comments on a fourteen goal season in fifty five games with two goals and three assists in eight playoff games for the first season of his five-year, $31.25 million contract last summer as a free agent.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Going back to last summer I was glad the Isles did not do whatever it took financially to sign him, he's not a seven million dollar player and to give him a Yashin-like contract would have only hurt the franchise. Ryan Smyth at his best is a good player, a lot like Peca with good offensive skills but this is not a franchise offensive star with great offensive speed or skilks. He brings good intangibles and character but if you are looking for an offensive talent to carry your offense Smyth is not that player with a great shot or great speed/passing skills.

Kevin Lowe got a lot of abuse for not resigning him but he's still a smart enough gm to know when a players best is behind him. He saw it before everyone with Janne Niinimaa and a few others, that surface in Edmonton also helps players games so when they change teams it's a factor.

You can bet on this roster as the first line left wing even if Comrie and Guerin were signed to play next to him those numbers would likely have been even lower.

Maybe next season he returns and does a great job and proves me wrong, but if he cannot stay healthy and produce big numbers with a Sakic and the great offensive talent on the roster (not to include Forsberg as a rental) why would anything think things will get better unless the support talent can find the time and space to get him the puck.

Sure we can debate whether he would have signed here for significantly more money than another club offered and by his agents comments the Isles were in it until the end but what's done is done.

Hard to see the 2007-08 Islanders doing any better on the ice with Ryan Smyth given his performance in Colorado.

* From Ted Nolan's press conference (sidebar) Chris Simon may return to practice but he has to speak with Charles Wang and Garth Snow.

* Bruno Gervais is a little banged up and is questionable for the Flyers game.

* Miroslav Satan got a rest today with another player, not sure who.

Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio blogged on Jack Capuano still out with an illness and the flu running through the club with some other items.

Rocky Mountain News: Jim Benton had Ryan Smyth's praise for his former Islander teammate, Richard Zednik.

Islander Notables 1/2

New York Islander Fan Central | 1/02/2008 04:41:00 PM
Newsday: Greg Logan has more on Marc-Andrew Bergeron, who's six goals in twenty three games almost matches the rest of the defense with eight goals in thirty eight games. Bergeron credited the coaches for keeping him ready to play despite him and Gerard Gallant having words on television a while back.

"The assistants have been really nice with me since the beginning of the year because I've been in an out of the lineup," Bergeron said. "They made me feel like I was a good player and kept me in good shape. I have nothing [bad] to say. I would have said it if I had something to say."

"It's a tough league," Bergeron said. "Everybody wants to be out there. So it's not a sure job. You've got to make sure you keep doing your job every night and you're doing it well. I think it's more up to me."

NYI Fan Central Comments:
What's the deal with Greg Logan? First he writes Bergeron's moody, now he makes the point if Bergeron's frustrated he does not pull his punches and brings up all the time Dubielewicz sat?

If Greg Logan wants to give tv updates on Bergeron that's fine because what happened earlier was a story but how come he did not comment on the assistants and Bergeron going off the ice in Carolina congratulating him on television? Doesn't this work both ways?

If there is no room in Newsday to hype the players so they stop getting the
under-rated label slapped on them around the league there should be no room for this either, but of course there is.

As for Bergeron he seems to understand if he does well he will play and if he does poorly he will sit. Given how Bergeron, Berard and Meyer have played it is up to them and how much they do to help the club win games. With Radek Martinek's return, Ted Nolan has a tough choice.

Denver Post: Mike Chambers reports Ryan Smyth is out indefinately with an ankle injury and is unlikely to play against the Islanders. Joe Sakic is already out with an injury.

Miami Herald: Pete Pelegrin reports from Jacques Martink that Panthers backup goalie Craig Anderson could play against the Islanders. Branislav Mezei is coming back from a benching tonight against the Devils.

Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio had an update on how well Jeff Tambellini is playing for Bridgeport and reported Ben Walter and Joey MacDonald were sent back to Bridgeport on Tuesday.

"Every aspect of the game, he's playing well right now," coach Jack Capuano said. "Are there things he needs to get better at? He knows that. He's a very gifted player. He's got great speed and vision and a very accurate shot, a deadly shot."

"If I'm playing well, if I'm in the game, I'm hitting guys, I'm talking," Tambellini said. "There's a big difference between playing like that and just going through the motions."

Sound Tigers website: Had a Q & A with Jeff Tambellini.

Islanders website: Has more on Rick DiPietro and Mike Sillinger's return to the lineup on Thursday. Radek Martinek will not play against Florida but will go on the road trip with the club and suit up at some point.

SI: Reports the NHL classic in Buffalo was a huge ratings hit for the league which was the highest rated game since 1996.
The Buffalo and Pittsburgh markets led the ratings, at 38.2/58 and 17.7/30, respectively. But markets such as Sacramento, Calif., St. Louis and Denver also drew strong ratings, even though the game went up against a number of college football bowl games, including an intriguing Capital One Bowl between Florida and Michigan.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
I enjoyed the game but of course felt all along somehow it would be a three point game with another Atlantic team on the kind of streak that makes what the Islanders are doing only hold their place which is at the bottom of the division, even if things are very close. Ty Conklin seemed to play the game of his life.

How many times could Bob Costas bring up Milbury and his shoe attack? You could tell Milbury did not enjoy it but did look comfortable behind the camera.

New York Islander Fan Central | 10/23/2007 09:32:00 PM

Newsday: Erik Boland covered the Islanders beat for Wednesday's article and reports on Berard's injury. Ted Nolan will put Marc-Andre Bergeron back in the lineup for Saturday's game against Carolina.

"He had a couple of off games, so we gave him a rest and with everyone playing so well, we couldn't get him back in the lineup," Nolan said. "The guys ahead of him were just playing that much better. You have to give him credit because he's been very positive. Right now, he has a chance to get back in there and do his thing."

NYI Fan Central Comments:
The picture is exactly where I thought Berard got hurt watching the game.

Hopefully the time off settled down Bergeron. My early impression of him right or wrong is he had no pressure coming here from Edmonton and got a chance to settle in but now that he's on the club from day one with expectations as well as a new defensive partner who was also new in Andy Sutton it's more of a struggle for him.

I don't know, we'll have to see how he does starting against Carolina.

Updated Wednesday am
Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio's update going into tonight's game against Lowell is about how the Sound Tigers lead the league in being shorthanded five against three.

"You've got to be ready to compete every shift," coach Jack Capuano said. "If you're not, you're going to take penalties. "If it continues," he added, "some guys are going to sit."

Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Lowell Devils
WHEN — Tonight, 7:05
WHERE — Tsongas Arena, Lowell, Mass.
ON THE AIR — No radio; Webcast and B2 Networks Internet pay-per-view at www.soundtigers.com

Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio also updated his blog with a chart to illustrate the disparity of the amount of times the club has played two men short.

Recordnet: Scott Linesburgh had more on former Islander prospect Ryan O'Marra being sent to Stockton Thunder and will make his ECHL debut tonight when he joins the club. O'Marra joins goaltender Devan Dubnyk as first-round picks who have been sent to the Thunder.

"He wasn't getting the ice time they want a young guy to get, which is why he was sent to me," Cichocki said. "He'll play here, and he's guy with a lot of skill and grit, which is exciting to see."

Edmonton Sun: Edmonton Journal : Have plenty of coverage of Colorado's win in Ryan Smyth's emotional return to Edmonton.

Islander News Articles 10/23:

New York Islander Fan Central | 10/23/2007 12:10:00 PM
Newsday: Mark Herrmann's article has to do with Bill Guerin settling to the community.

"I think everybody on the team has a good relationship with our fans because they're into it, they love the Islanders and things are going well right now," he said. "When the Islanders let a bunch of guys go, they were a little skeptical, but I think they know the type of guys we've got."

On Head Coach Ted Nolan:

"He's not a hard guy to get along with. He doesn't ask for a lot, just that you work hard and show up to play every night," Guerin said. "Really, that's not a lot to ask for, being it's our job."

Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio has an update on Sound Tigers practice Monday after a 6-1 loss.

"We refreshed the guys on some systems," coach Jack Capuano said. "Obviously we didn't play very well in the first half of the game. We had a good meeting this morning to go over some things."

On the Ryan Smyth return to Edmonton Front there was very little Islander-related beyond his trade but here is a link to most of the articles.

NYI/NHL notables:

New York Islander Fan Central | 10/22/2007 12:13:00 PM
Bill Guerin did not win whatever version of NHL player of the week it's called these days by the NHL. He somehow did not even finish in the top three.

NHL.com Reports Flyers goaltender Martin Biron, Calgary Flames right wing Jarome Iginla and Chicago Blackhawks forward Jason Williams have been named the NHL’s ‘Three Stars’ for the week ending October 21.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Sure liked it better when there was one award. I did not even know they changed from offensive and defensive player of the week to give you an idea of how this has become a non-event.

Hopefully the league dumped the Messier cold-x award too as another terrible idea.
***********************************************************
Denver Post: Teri Frei questions the firing of Bob Hartley by the Atlanta Thrashers.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Granted the gm should have taken the fall with Hartley at the very least or Hartley should have stayed and Waddell dismissed but what Frei does not point out here is the Thrashers did have an urgency to make the playoffs for the first time last season. It's a lot of people like Frei that remind us all the time about hockey's lack of impact in the Southern markets and you cannot blame Waddell for understanding it was important for his club to qualify just as Garth Snow understood it was important for his club to qualify with the Smyth trade or the Sharks with the Guerin trade.

I don't know if Hartley was too tough for the players but when he was dismissed in Colorado many wrote/said the same thing about him. Fair or not sometimes it's easier to fire the coach then fire the players, especially on a team with a franchise player like Kovalchuk who can make or break not only a coach but a franchise.

I don't know what Kovalchuk thought of Hartley but as an outsider you have to think Waddell had an idea it's a move the star player would not be devastated by.
**********************************************************
What's the deal with Brent Sutter, was he poisoned that badly by the media out west about the Islanders or was it something with Justin Mapletoft?

Newark Star Ledger:Rich Chere has this comment from Brent Sutter on the Islanders:

"From that aspect, absolutely I'd like to see them (come back). I think they're taking strides that way. They're bringing people back that were part of their success."

NYI Fan Central Comments:
I'm just curious where Brent Sutter thinks the Islanders are coming back from after making the playoffs four times in the last five years? Things have not been perfect, but there are a lot of NHL organizations that have been far worse during that time.

Chris Botta : In his media blog asks a very fair question here wondering if Sutter remembers the thousands of people who supported his career if he remembers them?
********************************************************
Denver Post: Teri Frei also reports Ryan Smyth is having a news conference in Edmonton prior to his Tuesday game against the Oilers.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
Hopefully we will get no tears this time. Would have been interesting if Edmonton for all the money they were throwing at restricted free agents decided to make Smyth an offer last summer but it's fair to say Kevin Lowe was correct not overpaying for a limited player. Islanders will visit Colorado this season.
*********************************************************
Sports Business Journal: Tripp Micklel and Eric Fisher report the league's response to the Rangers lawsuit with Bill Daly providing his written comments with the owners siding with the league by a count of 25-3 with Edmonton absent and Detroit in abstention.

The NHL filed more than four hundred pages of statements and exhibits from seven league officials and team executives Oct. 12 countering MSG’s claims that the league’s new media policy eliminates competition between the Rangers and other teams.

“The Rangers’ complaint amounts to an attack on the fundamental manner in which the league and every other professional sports league is organized and operates. … Granting MSG its requested relief would strip the league of its essential and fundamental structure.”

* Daly added that the Rangers popularity stems from playing other NHL teams and that it has benefited by hiring popular players who other NHL teams develop, such as Wayne Gretzky, Chris Drury and Scott Gomez.

NYI Fan Central Comments:
This is a pay subscription site that we joined on a trial basis for use on Islander Fan Central for hockey/business information.

Good job by Daly reminding us other clubs developed the Rangers current stars and this is a partnership with the league. Clearly the other owners want no part of associating with James Dolan. I'm wondering if the Devils, Islanders and Sabres were forced by the man who owns their broadcast rights to support him?

Considering the Rangers lost the most money of any club going into the lockout and have lost money in an outdated building for decades to where they need free rent, tax exemptions and even low cost elecrricity at Msg and that Cablevision is willing to overspend out of it's own pocket to increase Ranger financial losses and even front loaded contracts to Drury and Gomez to circumvent the new CBA, why should any owner who wants to run a responsible hockey business long-term want any part of supporting Dolan and his hockey business practice?

Dolan's way over his head taking on the NHL unless his supporter speaker Sheldon Sliver controls this court like he did the PCB which killed the West Side Stadium with Silver's son a paid lobbyist for Msg.

Dolan does not have his fellow owners support, his team has no impact on national ratings and are invisible in baseball's largest market. Why is it a big deal to Dolan that his site is linked to the league website?
