A one-year ELC is kind of un-usual.

The Bottom Line |
#NYC #NYI #Isles In 2021-22 the first year at the failed Belmont experiment, NY finished 37-35-10 (84 points) as 9th seed but by December were 10-20 points behind 8th seed. Caps finished as the eight seed with 100 points eighteen games over 500. That was a normal NHL playoff race
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) March 31, 2025
#NYC #NYI #isles This year the 7th, 8th seeds + Devils would trail by Lane Lambert/Patrick Roy's playoff teams.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) March 31, 2025
They would lose out to Doug Weight's 2016-17 team that missed the playoffs with 94 points/12 over.
#NYC #NYI #isles My point is being far worse then past mediocre playoff teams does not hide the problems with this roster simply for being in a race. They could still qualify but they are a bad team with far too many weaknesses.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) March 31, 2025
#NYC #NYI #isles They cut the shots against by over a hundred (it was 272) the games where they were outshot 22-3 have rarely happened. They stopped blowing leads like in the past, but the special teams have been even worse and the scoring is down with too many passengers.

Just Don't See New York In Playoffs |
#NYC #NYI #isles 14 gms/4 over. Took 12 over last season for 7th seed. Just don't see NYI in playoffs these teams win/lose in big streaks. Expect teams losing to start winning/reverse. Gatcomb, MacClean, Cizikas as 3rd line center. Two lines can't score + #44-21. Like D #30 tired
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) March 21, 2025
#NYC #NYI #isles It's not last year with blown leads and overtime points they now lack. It's also not the the mass of games they were outshot 20/3 so often last year. The shots against have been dramatically cut but that trend has reversed lately. Special teams are terrible.

65 Game Comparison 23/24 vs 24/25 |
#NYC #NYI #Isles📷65 games comparison:
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) March 16, 2025
23-24 vs 24-25
Record: 29-22-14/29-28-8
Shots allowed 2031/1872 (now 159 was 272 at game 53) Goals For 198/174
Goals Against 213/194
PPG 42/19
SHG 52/41
Powerplay goals allowed 2/6
#NYC #NYI #Isles Since game 53 the shots allowed had declined by 272 from 2023-24, now they are at only 159 meaning the shots against have dramatically risen since the changes to the roster on defense, mixing among forwards lines + age/schedule.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) March 16, 2025
#NYC #NYI #Isles This team lost it's first overtime/shootout game since early December, were stuck on 7 that long, it means they did not blow leads like in past but mostly (giving up fewer shots) could not get games to overtime due to awful special teams/less scoring.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) March 16, 2025
#NYC #NYI #isles This does not include the two overtime wins. (one where ping pong Pageau had a shot go off his leg against Tampa to blow the lead against Tampa before NY won in overtime)

New York Highly Unlikely To Qualify |
#NYC #NYI #isles Duclair has been hurt, and often is not moving well. Tsyplakov (badly managed) and Holmstrom belong on two top lines. Lee has produced better then expected. Horvat with any without Barzal has hardly been elite=poor coaching/players fault.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) March 13, 2025
#NYC #NYI #isles I don't see them winning the 9/10 it will take to qualify for the playoffs and then 5/8 after that. #21-44 aka Bossy-Trottier to Roy, are 3/4th line talents. #17-18-20-53-16-32 can't produce offense.

Nelson Traded to Colorado For Future First/Calum Ritchie |
The New York Islanders have acquired forward Calum Ritchie, a first-round selection in the 2026 or 2027 NHL Draft, a conditional third-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft, and defenseman Oliver Kylington from the Colorado Avalanche, in exchange for Brock Nelson and William Dufour.

— New York Islanders (@NYIslanders) March 7, 2025
#NYC #NYI #isles Don't mind the trade but the problems are still here 21-44-53-17-18-20-32, all of them have to go tomorrow. Would rather have kept Dufour and sent MacLean's contract instead.

The Problem: |
#NYC #NYI #Isles
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) March 5, 2025
Last year 27-20-14
This year 28-26-7
Those crooked numbers and not losing in regulation are the entire difference and the name of the game. Don't lose in regulation. The blown leads now are regulation losses even with 270 fewer shots allowed.

Sorokin Scores/NY Scripted Win vs Nashville |
#NYC #NYI #Isles Either Mayfield is hurting or he's on the outs with his contract. No excuses for Horvat, he's terrible on defense. Big boys have to step up here for all the talk of being a family. Today was a scripted win against a bad team one of those games in 82 you win.
