New York Season Over: Exit Interviews On Teams Website.... |
That's it for 55-60 game preseason where frankly this team richly finished where they deserved to if not far worse without Sorokin who is one of the best goaltenders in the NHL. This team is 15 games under .500 without him & likely more.
It was as bad as projected last summer, and during the 56 games where they held off what was coming with Leddy, Eberle and only 56 games, where they went 0-12-1 vs three higher seeds which was a perfect barometer to what happened against playoff teams this year. Belmont was a joke with countless flaws, issues well hidden by Dolan's media, which will only get worse, and the shocking loss of Gillies, Bossy, and Jean Potvin to go with Randy Boyd made this an inagural nightmare on every level.

William Dufour ELC |
Congratulations to William Dufour on signing a three-year, entry level contract with the New York Islanders! 👏 🖊 pic.twitter.com/lHZdWYb3PH

#Isles Transaction: William Dufour has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry level contract.
— New York Islanders (@NYIslanders) April 21, 2022
They need every young player they can sign, and Dufour's had a great season. Forgive me for being a bit jaded but after Mapletoft, Reinhart, when they come here, produce that's the time for excitement. Jeremy Colliton was dynmatie in juniors, for now they just play out the string, and hope Bridgeport holds it's 6th seed which these players cannot participate in, unless Covid changed rules again, not one where ten seeds per NHL conference get a play-in.

The New York Islanders are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the greatest pure goal scorer, four-time Stanley Cup Champion and Hockey Hall of Fame member, Mike Bossy. https://t.co/hbyozJ4BUS

#NYI #isles We were all prepared for this very sad day. He was one of the greatest players of all time, on the greatest team of all time. New York was lucky to have this incredible star on it's stage. Beyond his career he was a Hall of Fame man for this franchise & NHL.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) April 15, 2022
#NYI #isles When Bossy got 50/50 he did not break Richard's record, and had a shot at the open net for 51 to own the record. He passed to Trottier to thank him, that's the kind of man/team this was.

NYIFC Notable: Prospect Site |
Just to let folks know who have contacted me, was not happy with the slow loading embeded twitter profiles so removed them, and went back to the link list. All are from eliteprospects which is one-stop shopping for prospects/teams they play for with each teams league/individual websites.
Have also decided to make the cut off for prospects at age 25, which is why the days of Michael Dal Colle, Sabastian Aho, Grant Hutton, and the many late 20's/30's players are not given a link there any longer.
NYI website has them in their "In the system" section with weekly prospect reports.
As for the AHL/ECHL historical affiliates banners, I have no contact with NYI, and posted them on the site in the summer, before UBS arena unvelied it's tributes to fan groups vs their earlier concept of historical players/moments.
At this time I have not made a decision on the barely used twitter account for prospect updates. It's concept was for draft day prospect updates or just a twitter profile box. It's not meant to be active on a regular basis.

The Problem For New York: |
#NYI #isles I completely understand this team is tired, injured hanging on, but our owners signed up for this stupid Belmont experiment and did not move in season like Ledecky did w/Caps. Our gm put together a roster older, slower, less skilled. Self-inflicted.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) April 6, 2022
Nothing I did not write since March 2020, but now they are all in on this strategy, and the 8-24 record against playoff teams put NYI were they deserve to be in a sport where speed/skating/skill have improved, while NYI got even older, slower, less skilled. You pay 30 million for a guy with 10 goals in 67 games, and give Cizikas six years, Palmieri four, & Parise not to score with Bailey in career freefall who can't get off the ice, while Wahlstrom/Bellows barely play, this team richly deserves to be home for playoffs...........It's going to continue in the future....

Mike Bossy Notable/Updated 4/4/22: Home |
Former National Hockey League (NHL) player Mike Bossy is still at home surrounded by his loved ones and continues his battle with cancer. This is what the family of the 65-year-old man told the TVA Sports network on Monday.
This story has been updated
— Hockey Night in Canada (@hockeynight) April 5, 2022
According to @TVASports, the family of Mike Bossy says he is resting peacefully at home while continuing his battle with lung cancer https://t.co/CaOouHAiH4
#NYI #isles Very sadly it seems we have reached the vigil stage regarding Mike Bossy's fight vs cancer.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) April 2, 2022
Sadly, I have changed the header to include Mike Bossy, as we all continue to hope for the best.
#NYI #Isles Having written this regarding Mike Bossy, former NYI Gino Odjick was considered terminal many times since 2014, and is alive/well today. We still hope for the best.

New York Notables |
#NYI #isles It's not an unreasonable excuse to write NY played too much or too little hockey under normal circumstances, but clearly the record against playoff teams/top teams has been horrible. Collapses in 20/21 record on road/end of seasons are the true barometer of issues.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) April 2, 2022
#NYI #Isles You also can't fluff away how outclassed NYI were starting this season against Florida, Carolina, Tampa and skating teams who ran through them as Sorkin was incredible to get them to 5-3-2 when they could have lost every game.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) April 2, 2022
#NYI #isles Having written this Montreal at one game over was handed a play-in spot in 2020 and went to the finals with a team that would not even have qualified in a normal season. So yes, NYI deserve more then these 82 games but won't get them.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) April 2, 2022
#NYI #isles New York wants me to buy into all these old guys they have to own the puck and dominate teams like they did in 2018-19. That game in Toronto where players were laughing, Pens series, so many games with younger team NYI owned puck in games. This is not those NYI teams.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) April 2, 2022
#NYI #isles We keep seeing Brassard moving around who had all those huge tournament goals here and wonder why we had to have 30 million dollar Pageau, Cizikas for 5 more years, and lose Toews at half the price?
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) April 2, 2022
How are they going 9-3 vs Tampa, Florida, Carolina, Toronto, Blues, Dallas, Caps? Their record against playoff teams is a disaster even last season in 56 games going 0-12-1 at Caps, Pens, Bruins. #NYI #isles
