New York Notables: Silence means no customers |
This is not the old NHL, and Lamoriello did not operate this way in New Jersey or Toronto, he can stay silent, bring back the same team & not say much or anything, but this franchise will lose 1/2 it's marginal attendance with the buzz of the first year/50th anniversary failures, and now it's just year three.
NHL is not going to hand them all those Sat night games again either. It's not a market like Pens, Blues where the seats will be filled win or lose. Silence is not golden, nor is hiding at Northwell.
Briefly I don't know what lingering effects the pandemic bring to the calander. Qualifying offers should be 6/15, the draft 6/28-29th with likely no first (Horvat) no third (Ladd) so 2-4-5-6-7. Finally UFA on 7/1 as it used to be. We know NYI UFA menu with Engvall/Mayfield/Varlamov, only Lamoriello knows is everyone relevant signed or not on a team that badly needs two scoring wingers with very limited cap space.
And the clock starts ticking on Sorokin, who's the only reason this is not a 14th-15th seed for the last two seasons, if he wants to stay which only he knows it's going to take record money.

The Failed Belmont Experiment Ranked Dead Last For Fan Experience/Notables |
#NYI #isles The failed Belmont experiment ranks dead last in NHL rankings for fan experience. https://t.co/xvgzqJc0vC
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) May 24, 2023
#NYI #isles No one wants those prices, walk, transportation system or lack of one at the failed Belmont experiment, even Mullet Arena had a higher ranking. It's time to get out of the middle of nowhere. Unfathomable a new building finish dead last. pic.twitter.com/jm86qO7EZs

Meanwhile 78 percent want something built on Shea Stadium site that Malkin-Wilpon wanted in 2017, while Dolan's boy in Newsday in 2017, wrote Queens was not viable, nor was any other city location.
Dolan got his Nassau Coliseum at Belmont, operated by his friends with no real money in Leiweke/Azoff, with the Boston Bruins/Delaware North, the Wilpon's.
Now Dolan's friend in Vegas, Robert Goldstein, helping with that badly overbudgeted Msg Globe, has the Nassau Coliseum lease for 99 years, with 17-1 approval vote, and wait for Hochul to approve a Casino license. Side note anti Shinnecock Nation, NYI arena former Hofstra President works on a board that approves Casino licenses. Expect the same happy talk from Dolan's Newsday, Belmont got, ignoring any bad news a casino would bring to a university. Goldstein lives in Dolan's pocket, and despite his worth being only 200 million, has huge stock investments in Sands in Vegas. Either way, they have the building rights to the HUB as long as they pay the former lease, Ratner-Prokhorov, Mastroianni, EB-5 would not pay for a building with mostly no events. Goldstein has to come up with 54 million in the next sixty days, and Rechler as usual is in.
Even if no Casino, Goldstein is here to stay, TOH-Kate (plant a tree at Dolan's UBS arena) Murray has to give zoning approval for anything Goldstein constructs.

Kuefler ELC, MacLean Re-signed |
#Isles Transactions: Kyle MacLean has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract. Daylan Kuefler has agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract.

#NYI #isles There is a massive difference between an AHL contract vs an NHL one. An AHL contract still make a player an NHL free agent. Load up that left side to say goodbye to Parise.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) May 19, 2023
#NYI #isles To the best of my knowledge these are the players who required a qualifying offer for 2023-24 in the AHL for New York along with Bode Wilde. pic.twitter.com/MYgO4AsyEL

My Vote of support for Lamoriello/Lambert to Return |
#NYI #isles I do not want our former coach Gallant here again who should have been fired last yr or in Dec at 1-5 over behind NYI. He burns his bridges faster then Laviolette who's only NYI success was based on Osgood's hot start in Oct 2002 which led to 11-1, then 500 record.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) May 15, 2023
And if we had the old 1-16 conference playoff format.

New York Notables |
#NYI #isles Bridgeport making AHL signings have nothing to do with New York. When we have real professional news organizations confirming alumni information it will be written here, not before.
— New York Islander Fan Central (@NYIFANCENTRAL) May 12, 2023
The players signed to AHL deals will be removed from the prospect list unless the NHL team signs them, and they fit the criteria of a prospect as in 25/younger.
#NYI #isles When/if NYI (or professional media) make announcements there is something to be written, same with health status of alumni. If that happens I will have something to write here. It's not the norm for org to ever make such announcements regarding management.

New York Notables |
#NYI #isles I don't have much to write about the NYI because the management/ownership have said nothing. They may not say a word until September. That's awful for business/interest & I disagree completely with that strategy because if they play at the failed Belmont experiment 8k at games.
